Ben’s general enthusiasm for the game convinced me to get it.
It’s definitely been designed with competition in mind. If the monster is good and hunters are pubs the monster wins easily. If pre-made hunters and monster isn’t good then the hunters win easily.
Due to the class aspect it’s also impossible to carry a bad team unless the monster is a total chode.
With two good teams the game is great. Though that doesn’t happen often just like in L4D.
Overall it’s like L4D with the tank, no zombies and occasional ai monsters that can attack the monster and hunters.
I’d add that Terran seem to be in a fairly good place at the moment balance-wise, while NC are struggling.
We also joined a pretty large outfit on our Terran chars which means we’re usually in a (semi) organised platoon.
I’d thought it was 4 unlocks per faction, rather than being able to put all 12 into one. Could be wrong though.
I’m not fussed on faction choice as long as it isn’t Vanu as I think we can all agree that they gargle balls.
Not sure if I’ll have time to play much/at all before beta ends. Have taken off 22-26th though so should be getting some serious playtime in after launch. Will pop on TS though for a bit of BF3 in the downtime.
