    Help me with this existential crisis.

    Audi A3 Sportback 2.0 T FSi Quatro S-Line SE

    Audi A4 4dr 2.0T FSi Quatro SE

    VW Passat 3.2 FSi 4 Motion DSG

    All are around the same price range (22 – 26K)

    The car should have a bit of grunt, not have an insane Insurance bracket, take Phart, Wife and possibly ankle-biters, with room for cases of vino, nappies etc. Must also take cricket kit & golf clubs. Should be compfy for long trips.

    Mmm @ those prices I’d be chasing something much nicer but 2nd hand …. Lotus Exige anyone?

    Failing that can turn you to the dark side and get you biking ๐Ÿ˜›

    A brand spanking new Honda Goldwing would probably do the trick for you and cost รƒฦ’ร†โ€™รƒยขรขโ€šยฌร…ยกรƒฦ’รขโ‚ฌลกรƒโ€šร‚ยฃ5-10k less…

    Imagine a limousine on 2 wheels … not the size but the luxury and features.. that’s pretty much what a Goldwing is all about.

    Craploads of storage space, built in stereo, 2 super comfortable seats and a large fairing to block out oncoming wind and rain as it’s designed to haul in comfort for long distances.

    It ain’t the prettiest of bikes but it is legendary!!

    I voted for the A3, but for the love of god DON’T get it in canary yellow! Get it in black, graphite grey or diesel blue, but just don’t choose yellow.

    If you do I will be forced to break into your flat and use all of your Humbrol paints to give your A3 an ‘urban camo’ finish, so that when you get up the next day you’ll have trouble finding it. This might make your A3 a potential road hazard, however I believe that the pros will outweigh the cons.

    So in summary:

    A3 = Yes

    Yellow = No

    I’ve no idea about cars being a life-long walker.

    Um, make sure it’s got 4 wheels other than that it’s all good.

    If you need it to be comfy for long trips, then go for the A4 or Passat. The A3 is nice enough, but you’ll appreciate a saloon for those longer more relaxing drives.

    All should be OK for golf clubs – you can fit in a couple of bags in the boot of my Lexus, and it’s got a slightly smaller boot that both the A4 & Passat.

    4WD seems a bit poncy though. I would prefer to spend the cash it costs for that on better trim & gadgets that actually make the car more useful and comfortable day to day. Unless you live on a farm, that is.

    I Voted for the A4 – Slighty bigger car, larger boot for said essentials.

    A3’s are nice cars but in Canary Yellow FFS, now if it had been Max’s next purchase then I would have opted for the A3

    A3 in Canary Yellow + Burberry + Picture of getting Jiggy with WII in your underwear – Priceless ๐Ÿ˜‰

    Leggit, you have no idea about why I need a car rather than a toy

    Lensy, 4wd is great for the long trips I do, usually around the Alps, most often in winter. Ice and snow = 4wd for grip.

    I think I am getting a bit old for an A3, but I do like em.

    A4 or Passat with the fook off 3.2. ????

    Both look good, both roomy. the VW gives more for the money, the A4 has that 4 ringed badge which means good residuals.

    BTW, any offers. Audi A2 1.6 FSi. 6 CD Changer, Climate Control. Open Sky sunroof, Alloys, 16000 miles. 3 years old. Some parking scratches on the corners from the Chelsea Cows and their Tractors.

    Offers

    Look Podski, just because the Germans rolled you lot over twice in 100 years, does not mean to say that you should boycott their cars.

    I mean, the Spyker aside, the only transport you lot make are Pennyfarthings and Cloggs

    Fair enough on the 4WD- for those trips I would chose it too.

    So you think you’ll still be going to the Alps when the rugrats arrive? ๐Ÿ™‚

    Me & the missus used to holiday most years in New England, and swore we would still do so with a little Lensy in tow. But somehow we just haven’t made it since he came along…..

    Go for the A4 or the passat. I’ve driving a VW touran (people carrier thingy) lately and I love it – Gonna buy me one of those soon.

    Passat maybe a bit cheaper and also cheaper services etc than the audi although they are the same car underneath? Go figure ๐Ÿ˜•

    Jaguar is owned by Ford, same as Volvo, Land Rover and Aston Martin. They all come under the Ford Automotive Group but trade under their own respective brand names.
