Ive picked up a free G3 Mac and I am trying to install OS X, the mac didnt have a hard disk so I connected a IDE I had lying about, its probably got an old Microsoft OS on it, but for some reason the install does not detect the hard disk only the CDROM, any ideas?
Maybe mac os x may be to high for g3 and I need os 8 or 9?
G3 mac can run Mac Os X ok I believe, my parents have an iMac G3 with Mac Os X Panther on it fine. I would say it is the hdd at fault, get it cleared off so its empty with no partitions on it and no microsoft stuff on it. Use a partition program like partition expert for this. then try again and it should be fine.

it definitely will run on a g3, problem is probably the ide is formatted NTFS or some other Windows shite filesystem
Go to bittorrent and dl and osx, burn it and boot from the cd-romAlternatively boot it from an USB memstick, your iPod or any other firewire or usb device, all will work
