now just got to rebuild the forums

Hi All

At this moment in time – this is our new home!!

I know the old forums will be missed but I am hoping to resurrect them in the form of a read only format or find some way of creating an archive section in this our new forums.

PHPBB was the heart of PHPNUKE and you will notice that most things work the same. We just need to rebuild the various catagories and get the permissions up and working – i will work on this over teh next couple of days.

Unfortunately security security security is now going to be the order of the day and i am going to try and stay away from any scripts / applications that are not strictly necesary – i hope you will agree that the trade off in having a website that is actualy there when we want it will be good. I cant really afford to take any more risks as everytime the pull the plug on yet another XDC security breach they take all my commercial sites down as well which hurts… lots.

There are several advantages of staying with phpbb rather thank phpbb embedded in phpnuke. for one the code has a massive user base and if a hell of a lot more secure than nuke. there are also more mods and 1000s of styles available and is fully skinable so we can get our own look and feel back up and running as we did with nuke.

i think there is a way we can post stuff to the front page as well – still looking into that. at the moment the front page ie xdcuk.net or xdcuk.co.uk just redirects stright to xdcuk.net/forums i will find away to get stuff to the front page so we can still tell the world about us and what we stand for.

again give me time to work that bit out.
