November 12, 2010 at 9:48 am #77715xdc magickerParticipanti think i might add such a cooler to my xmas list.. a list of one.. if i am lucky…
i am sure my 2.8 q9550 is good for 4gig but i a week the cooler is so full of dust it does not stand a chance.
November 12, 2010 at 10:45 am #77716XDC wild egg tamerParticipantnice rig doc; macro works wonders for those close up shots though 😉
Did you build it yourself or buy it complete ?

LOL really? I will have you know these pics were taken with a tamron adaptalis 100mm macro lens on a DSLR. Are you talking about the narrow field of view? I just liked the effect 🙂
I bought it complete – as I have said for a few years now… it makes no sense to me to buy components separately and build yourself nowadays… I literally could not price this computer cheaper anywhere else in components – especially after factoring in postage.
As it transpires i wasn’t happy with the way they routed some of the cables underneath the GFX card…. I had bought a sound card separately and ended up having to remove the GFX card… the motherboard power, and 3 different case wires just to install the flippin thing properly.
I other words I had to dismantle and re build about a quarter of the machine – which kind of detracts from my point!
Love the coolit watercooling for the CPU. Whole machine is incredibly quiet – which may be surprising to people who have heard about how noisy gtx 470’s are. The coolit only does the CPU – but I asked for the Palit version of the GFX card with 2 fans which runs quieter and cooler than the stock card.
Havn’t overclocked it yet – but will start doing benchmarks and testing for that soon.
November 12, 2010 at 12:38 pm #77718XDC wild egg tamerParticipantThe depth of field is a nice touch but i’m just not sure on the blurred effect on the first 3 pics 😉
Who did you buy from doc, i’m thinking of treating myself for my 40th.
November 12, 2010 at 1:05 pm #77719xdc the docParticipantHah – fucking critics! Its hard doing this stuff handheld! If I knew you were such a conneiseur I would have got the tripod out 😆
I bought from PC specialist. 2nd comp from them – would recommend them.
Hows the network working for you?
November 12, 2010 at 1:25 pm #77720XDC wild egg tamerParticipanthehehe 😀
I’ve not got around to doing any wiring yet as the carpets are all still down and i’ve put my back out again (recurring problem) but i’ve connected the readynas duo to my router and set that up. I’ve also connected the switch and then plugged in my laptop and netbook and that seemed to be working ok. I’ve now connected my printer to the readynas so that is now independent of any pc which is fantastic as now i can print from any of my devices without needing the main pc to be switched on.
The builders are starting work in the next week or 2 so i’ll be getting busy just before then. I know where i’m having the data points and how many so it will be a case of pulling up carpets and floor boards, doing chases in the walls where needed and getting it all completed before they come in and re-plaster the walls.
I’ve made myself a new lead with an RJ45 at one end and an RJ11 at the other to connect my router to the main BT socket (has a seperate RJ45 socket) so that when i put all the gear under the stairs in what will become my very own “data suite” i can have the router there along with the switch; readynas and possibly printer.
I’ve looked at pc specialist before so shall have a look at what their offers are. My birthday is in two weeks but with the building work going on i’ll wait until the new year when all is done before i take it any further.
Now get that tripod out and get some decent close up shots!! 😉
November 12, 2010 at 1:40 pm #77721XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantWell I’m massively underwhelmed.
Judging by the thread subject I thought you’d brought an 18 wheeler truck.
So how about you come play some BFBC2 and put this beastie of your to the test?
And nice picks btw.
November 12, 2010 at 2:58 pm #77722TurksMeisterParticipantThe photos are shit.
The thread is boring.Nice one!
November 16, 2010 at 11:03 am #77723XDCErratic-SpaceParticipantVery nice mate. But I’m with Egg, poor shots 🙂
October 14, 2011 at 7:15 pm #77724XDCiNSANEParticipantHmm might just look into this company for a full system as was thinking of getting parts meself but why build your own when someone else can do it for you 🙂
Should get a decent price for the one I’m using now to cover half the cost too
Nice one Doc
Are they overclocked bytheway or standard…
October 15, 2011 at 10:03 am #77725AlzirKeymasterJesus christ mike how many posts do you want to dig up? Doc’s pc’s probably obsolete by now.
Incidently, like minecraft and eve, building your own pc gets you a lot of women. Not sure if you’re that way inclined 😉
