Too late for his era with the band, I think, but Dark Side of the Moon has got to be one of the best albums ever IMHO

my car is called “the Machine” after the Floyd, for those that don’t know (shame on you) he was the original singer and inspiration for the Pink floyd, took to many drugs, had a nervous breakdown (was the reason for Floyd recording “Shine on You Crazy Diamond) after he left and became a recluse, disappeared for twenty years, turns out he was living with his mother in Cambridge. a legend who, despite being out of the music industry fro 30 years, was an inspiration whose legacy lives on in most music today.
RIP indeed.
On a side note, I have 31 albums of pink floyd including the ‘A tree full of secrets’ set – A lot of me albums are unplayable though 😥 Even some of the CD’s are fubarred 😥 Thank christ for MP3’s

I love Pink Floyd. The later stuff is more for me, but I like much of Syd’s too.
At risk of sounding like an old fart….and you know what, the kids of today just don’t know about it. My 11 year old godson is a whizz on the guitar – genuinely very very good and a big fan of electric guitar music. Just the other day he played to me “the best guitar solo ever!” as something he aspired to playing himself. It was by some crap band or other. “Lou”, I said, “that’s not a guitar solo – this is a guitar solo”, and whipped out my Wall CD and played him “Comfortably Numb”.
Suffice it to say that he is now a fan, and his quality bar has been rasied a bit!
I think that my favourate guitar solo from the wall must be the one in “Mother” 🙂
