Actually, the americans I’ve met in real life (granted, I’ve not met many) have all been alright. The one exception is this lad who kept getting upset when I kept saying his name “Gary” in a Team America voice and waving my arms about in the “I’m in trouble” signal from the film. In his defence though, I did find out later from my mates that he wasn’t called Gary at all and they they’d just told me that because he was american.
I suppose if you were american and kept saying to some drunk that your name wasn’t Gary and he kept saying “Course it’s not, Gary” and then waving his arms about like a pillock you’d get a bit miffed as well.

RE: America, it sums them up at the minute to look at the Lebanon situation. They are giving Aid and relief to the Labanese, whilst at the same time giving the Israeli’s the means to destroy them… WTF’s that about?

I’ve met lots through work (university) & they’ve always been very sound people. My brother went out with one for 4 years – she was sweet but a bit mad – but then thats hardly an exclusively american trait. 😉
In fact having met people from many different countries I can honestly say people are pretty much the same whether they’re from – Some are cocks, some are genuinely nice people. Only problem I’ve ever had is with the fundamentalist types from saudi & north africa. But i won’t go into that because we’ve all been sent on “diversity training” 🙄 and I am no longer allowed to have an opinion on such matter as religously inspired bigotry and discrimination.
i guess what i really mean is that the bad ones are the worst ones (Americans that is), they go around driving huge trucks and think they can kick everyones ass because they have huge trucks, or because they’re Americans. their idea of living life is “lets get rich as possible as soon as possible” and stive for that no matter what, the people who are rich are very aware of it and the people who arent try to act like it. thats probably true everywhere but since i’ve only lived in america i wouldnt know. anyway, iu think its kinda silly about us debating over who’s country is stupider(i know thats not a real word, its a joke).

Still back to the Yanks, personally I’ve only spoken to few, but most seemed ok. One thing I did notice when I was in US/Canada though was that it’s a bit insular news wise, unlike our news which tends to be a bit more informative on a global basis.
