Unlucky fella – that happened to me last year on my motorbike, but not only was I rammed from behind, I was shunted into the car infront and thus sandwiched and compressed between the 2.
First things first, 9.9/10 it’s the guy who rammed you from behind’s fault.
I’m assuming you would have taken his registration and insurance details; put a compensation claim in. I got £2150 compo after the crash and blew it all on my current bike, I had to pay extra on top of course hehe but it instantly covered 2/3rds of a nice purchase 😉 It may seem a bit twatish gunning for compensation, but the guy fucked up and it’s probably fucked up my back for the remainder of my life, even then £2k for a fucked back really isn’t a good deal on my part, but it beats getting nothing and I’m sure you could fine a use for the money.
The police don’t actually need to attend the scene of an accident unless the crash is obscuring traffic from flowing/the driver pisses off without exchanging details as far as I know – the guy who rammed me asked if I was all right and wanted to piss off, but some whiny bitch in front who only got a cracked bumper worth about £5 was bitching and moaning and the guy stuck around to exchange details.
It may not be as bad for you with the natural protection of a car and you wasn’t sandwiched between a pair of them, but my back was really god awful in the mornings but by the afternoon I was well enough to get back to work. Apparently it didn’t help that my matress was getting old and starting to sag, so if your matress isn’t too new chuck it out and get a new 1 because chances are you’re going to need the extra support to recover quickly.

I’m not sure that’s the best offer he’s had today… but if you ask him very nicely I’m sure he’ll oblige 😆
December 1, 2006 at 2:39 pm #40752XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantAn old friend of mine was a motocycle courier, travelling in and around London. One day he’s in his hometown of Aylesbury and pulls up at a roundabout, waiting for a chance to pull out and for a moment takes his hands off the handlebars and straightens his back. A woman in a Cavalier hits him from behind and he lands on her bonnet, smashing her windscreen with his head. His bike, on the other hand, goes under the front wheels of a truck. Appart from bruises and ‘a sore arse’ he was fine.
Had he been leaning forward on the bike though he’d have been pushed out in front of the truck. The woman’s excuse?
“Sorry I didn’t see you!”

There is a time and a place for speed, and it is not in 30mph zones. They are there for a reason. Children, dogs, old fookers abound in such places. People who drive fast in these places really fuck me off, as the Kensington Arab found out who overtook me on Glouceter Road near Partridges one Sunday evening after I was returning from cricket. Naturally he had to stop at the lights, so I hopped out with my trusty GB Purist and remonstrated with him. He closed his window in a hurry so I gave his 7 Series BMW driver-side door a very hard kick as he pulled off. Was a fucking laugh to see him pulled over just before High Street Ken looking at the great dent while I drove past with a Victory salute. The stupid cunt
My hero!!!!!! 😀
December 1, 2006 at 3:51 pm #40754Mr.FenixParticipantIf there’s an injury, the Police should be called. If they’re not called, they should be notified asap afterwards. Unless it’s changed in the last few years…
A car pulled out into me while I was cycling perfectly correctly in broad daylight and I went over the handlebars, over the car and into the oncoming traffic lane spraining my thumb and hurting a knee. That guy got away with a dent in his car and £40 cash out of his wallet so I could buy a new wheel. In relating these events to an ex-Policeman friend, he told me we were required by law to involve the Police because of the injury.
Actually, this same ex-Police chap trained for Police driver and is a trainer/tester with the Institute of Advanced Motorists in car and motorbike classes. You’d be surprised how many things that annoy so-called careful, sensible drivers are actually required for advanced driver qualification. The standard driving test is a minimum level of knowledge and ability which barely scratches the surface of the subject. It would be wonderful if it were made compulsory for all motorists to train to advanced level: we’d all get along a lot better and roads would be happy places lol.
disclaimer: I’ve not taken official IAM lessons, nor have I taken/passed the test. That’s not my style.
December 1, 2006 at 3:51 pm #40755XDC_WolfParticipantHonestly, a couple of Rover drivers can make a 25-30 minutes journey take 50 minutes. Are they fucking evil?
As a rover driver (rover 100 “the Machine” courtesy of Pink Floyd) I am willing to agree with you. We are all evil bastards, it is the fleet car of the Church of England after all!

Agreed,I have the IAM equivalent back home, and I also held a PRD licence when a youngster because I raced Formula V.
Everyone should learn how to control skids etc
December 1, 2006 at 4:31 pm #40757tessParticipantI think you should contact your insurance company, you may be covered for a hire car until your insurance claim is sorted.
Thank God no kids were in the car with you, or things could have bene nasty!

December 1, 2006 at 5:50 pm #40761XDC MadHippyParticipantFinally managed to get a hire car. They left me in my company reception for nearly three hours before it turned up. The hire people took all the details of my old car so they could get an equivalent spec car
🙄
My car – Toyota Avensis CDX, leather, sat nav air con 2.0 petrol 5 door hatch
They sent an astra coupe diesal!! 😥 👿
I’ve manged to get the kids carseats and the buggy in – problem is there’s fuck all room for anything else!!
Not happy 😥
Finally managed to get some pain killers (good) The bad thing “avoid driving” FFS!
The other painkillers require me to take them with food three times a day – I eat once a day if i’m lucky, Good job it’s the weekend so I can maybe get three meals in.
And finally to top it all off the barstich who hit me called to say good luck with the ensuing battle as he is gonna fight it ! We both know it was his fault – Guess he wants to drag it out a bit (Fuckwit!)
“stay tuned for another rant from the aching pissed off hippy with no herb”
