I’m tempted……can anyone recommend a pc off the shelf, that will run BF3 at max settings which will last longer than 6 months before future games won’t play on it ?

Preferably buy now pay next year.

No need for the list specs it means fuck all to me

    Budget 1k

Need a new snazzy thin monitor with it as well

And if the budget allows, a decent sound card in case I decide to make some music with it as well.

Any handy links to the puppy would be appreciated,if you think I need to go too 1200 throw it in as well……m wiling to budge upward if necessary

    Thanks

    Lol,

    Here you go:

    http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-210-OE

Upgrade graphics card to GTX 580 and pick an OS, order, enjoy BF3 at full settings and all games for the next year or so.

Also, for a nice shiny monitor:

    Those will serve you well.

Around £1100 all in for monitor and PC.

If you need a mouse/keyboard/headset, check out Razer products.

Hehe, won’t happen mate. I’ve built many PCs and if I was to build one, it would be along those specs. You could probably save a bit of money if you build it yourself, it’s pretty easy to do, but off the shelf, for your budget, you won’t do better. You could maybe downgrade to an i5 processor and get a solid state disc, but that’s easy to upgrade later. You’re best to get the best pocessor and graphics card you can get, and you can’t do better for your money than what I have chosen.

Also, monitor wise, at the lower budget, they are all interchangeable. There may be a better monitor for a few £ more, but they will all be comparable at that price point.

I should add I got no further that krypton before my mind shutdown cos I was bored already

Just to prove my point that those spec list things mean nothing to me !!

To explain the technical things I said, you could go for a slower processor (i5 instead of i7) and you woulnd’t notice any real change in games but overall, the system would be weaker. You could use the money you’ve saved to buy a solid state hard disk, allowing you to load game levels faster.

It’s a trade off, but personally, I’d take the faster processor, especially if you want a system that will last you a while. The had disk is easy to put in yourself later, I mean really, really easy.

I know enough about pcs to know that you should get the best that you can afford at that time……so that’s what I will do

I would like something superfast in whatever it does

And a decent soundcard is quite important too

Also what’s a solid state hardrive ? I need one of those eh ?

Essentially, it’s a hard disk that is made differently, it has very fast read/write times and allows you to load and save a lot quicker.

They are typcially lower capacity and are very expensive gb/£. They are nice to have but by no means essential. They say you can load windows pretty fast, but apparantly windows 8 has a few seconds boot time so when you upgrade to that in a year or 2, that won’t make any difference.

Also, feel free to wait, I’m sure people will chime in and say this is ok, or suggest a slight modification here and there, but it’s essentially a solid machine

It is likely to be onboard sound, so no seperate sound card. You can pick up a good quality sound card for around £70 and they are very easy to install.

fuck it, get a decent motherboard, CPU, RAM & GPU and watch it fly, add SSD & all the other bollocks at a later date as funds allow.

Ok I’m back….you are talking about buying components and creating a pc here right ?

That’s off the menu im afraid……even with my newly found powers of krypton
