ParticipantOk,
Last Friday some asshole decided that he could not see my car parked in the same place it always is and hits the rear driver panel and the wheel. Smashing the panel braking the brake lines and bending the bracket where the suspension bar attaches to the axle.
Wanker drives off, But he broke his wheel to and stopped a few hundred yards away around 2 corners. *claims he was stopping at his dads and was going to come back to check the damage he had done*
Yeah right that’s why you was still looking at your van 15 mins later you twat.Anyway. I got all his details without laying seven bags of shit into him and the police are doing him for driving away from an accident.
So i phone my ins company the next morning. I find out that i am only ins 3rd party fire and theft even tho i asked for fully comp when i changed the policy to this car. WTF!
Anyway,
because i am 3rd party my ins tell me that even though the guy is claiming responsibility they don’t do a thing and i have to be the one to contact his ins company and make a claim. WTF!
That cant be right can it?
I was almost sure that, that is what an ins company is for, to take the claim up for me and to get it all sorted.Anyone know if they are right or just trying to pull a fast one?

ParticipantThe third party insurance does not cover any damage to your car or yourself. It is solely there to protect other people and their property. It will only cover your liability to other people, although some third party insurance may cover the cost of legal fees
I assume you checked your certificate when they sent it to you?

Participantfraid they are right. Although you were wronged and he’s claimed responsability. It’s up to you to persue the claim through his insurers. If you wrere fully comp then your insurance company would deal with it. But that’s what you pay for

I know what 3rd party covers… But i thought with it being his fault they would get it sorted.
