My computer takes 6 minutes to switch on and has multiple errors in the Event viewer.
Please tell me what information you require to make it awesome again!
Fixes everything normally so yea, reformat. Didn’t you just install everything on a new ssd though? Have a look at how much crap you have in your system tray if you let the mrs near the pc, also how many processes you have running in windows, if either look untidy, at least reinstall windows, but reformatting and telling her to fuck off away from your computer will definitely help.
The Rats have a great thread, so going to do that stuff first.

Dont even bother trying to fix it. it will waste hours of your life and give you countless headaches as you try every little tweak out there. Just format and reinstall windows.
I do mine around once a year tbh because the difference you see in everything from booting up or gaming is massive, when you clean install.@airmessy wrote:

Fuck, I wish I could get away with giving that kind of advice to people in my job.
Turks, as to your questions, what part does it takes ages to boot up. Is it before or after the windows splashscreen. If after, specifically what does it say on the screen.
Re. event vewier, there are always tons of errors, some are serious, some are not. What do they say? Ones to look out for are disk issues etc.

its before the splash screen – litterally a blank black page for a couple of minutes, then does the splash screen loading part but really slowly.

Yep, sounds like your HD is on it’s way out mate. A great excuse for and SSD. I’d backup anything you want to keep on that drive then run a checkdisk mate, but it’s likely a hardware fault.

Ive heard bad things about OCz SSD’s, can these be ignored? and I have a SATA II Mobo… will this limit my speed?

There we some reported issues with the OCZ Agility 3 SSD’s but there has been a firmware update since, which seems to has sorted it for most people. I have the OCZ Vertex 4 and I can tell you I’ve had no issues and it’s exceedingly quick.
With regards to SATA II Board limiting your speed, you can get SATA II SSD’s and compared to a mechanical HDD, you will notice a huge performace increase. If you wanted to, you could still buy a SATA III SSD and futureproof yourself if you decide to get a newer mobo/cpu later on, but it will only run a quick as the SATA II Ports on your Mobo. Again, compared to a mechnical drive it will be much faster.
