Firsty you need to distinguish between hacking and cracking as they are 2 very distinct things. It helps when people are stupid enough to put what is your favourite sports team and man utd as the answer :O It was the first answer I tried, I wouldn’t have bothered trying anything else and I wanted to see if someone really would be that stupid to use it! It’s no wonder it’s so hard to have an intelligent/deviant discussion with such simple folk and their closed minds! I never actually saw anything inside the account as that would have been too cruel/malicious – as soon as the password changed it asks you to reset the password (which I reset to manutd so he can guess to get back in) then it asks to reset the reminder which I didn’t bother. Because the reminder was never reset, I couldn’t get into the mails etc therefore I couldn’t actually initiate abuse. Added to that the only way they knew about it was when I PM’d a sort-of apology, then had I kept my mouth shut they would have been none the wiser – honesty ftw… or ftl as usual 🙁 It’s even less of a big deal when it wasn’t done maliciously and to top it off had you seen the question you would have tried the same answer too – of course you would have relinquished control and had a laugh and a joke about it too but it wouild have been no big deal….
You also need to see that talking about stuff which is private and confidentiasl in the manner you guys are doing is abusing it. To use it, the main details would have been edited out, to abuse it, the full address would have been rep[eatedly quoted and pasted as part of some kind of joke. Maybe what I did was wrong, but that doesn’t mean what you lot doing is also right – atleast I had the deceny to apologise to my victim and let them know whereas your victim is in the dark 🙄
Accidentally getting someone’s e-mail is amusing and sharing details of what happened can allow other people to enjoy it too, but as I quoted it can still be amusing if you never passed on their confidential details 👿 You’ll have to believe when when I say I have first hand experience of the damage it can do, it’s just not wise to go there…
You can basically try and justify it how you like, but at the end of the day it was a wankerish thing to do. I mean is your life soo sad and empty that you need to see who’s MSN account you can crack?
It beg’s the question how many other XDC MSN accounts did you try and get into?
To be honest, i think you just did it to get a rise out of XDC, i know you live to bait certain XDC members, but you crossed a line with this. I personally think you should have your account banned, i know that won’t do much and you’d be back within seconds plus i can’t think of another account being banned, it’s just not the way we operate, but i think it would send a message just how a lot of members are getting sick to the back teeth of you, but then again i’m sure that was your goal.
I love the way these replies come ignoring my points and taking the moral high ground, especially when you* voilate your own rules which is convenitently ignored.

Legit, if you paid attention to anything around here you would realise that you are allowed any opinion you want, but if people thinks it’s ridiculous then they will tell you. I have had many arguments with people from XDC about various things and I have not backed down from all of them and I have come across looking like a twat in many cases. I once even wittily edited a photo of Insane with his neice on and got a right bollocking for it, so I retraced it and apologised. You just don’t do that, virtually everything you post on here is with an air of “I know because of this experience…..” which makes you sound like a know it all. And to further push this facade of knowledge, when you make an incorrect judgement or statement you don’t back down. Can you not see why you irritate people?
Also regarding this breach of someones email address, regardless of what has happened on here with peoples details, it was still no justification, and just beacause you didn’t do anything once inside doesn’t make you any less guilty than the bomberrs in London who claimed that they weren’t trying to blow anything up. (note, I am not likening you to a suicide bomber, it’s just the frst thing that came to mind of a simmilar type of argument being used to yours).
If you are bored, do something which doesn’t involve peoples email addresses, like go to the cinema.
Also don’t think you are the victim here, you’re not, you have been a wanker and an utter tool and everyone who is a wanker and an utter tool gets abused. It’s the XDC way. I could show you some of the unsavoury stuff aimed at me from the private argument clinic, but that would be classified 😉
I apologised in a way to Insane, it’s the only reason he was even aware it happened. I don’t back down because I shouldn’t have to – it surely can’t be wrong to stick to your guns when you believe you’re right (even if you’re wrong)… maybe people should stop attacking because you know I will only respond ;o I don’t know it all, but that doesn’t mean I can be without experience of things I am talking about, whether it be riding like a crazy fool or anything else? =/ Even if there is no justification for assimilating the e-mail, then where is the justification for posting peoples addresses and where is their apology??? I have still yet to see any comment on that matter as everything seems to dance around/avoid it ;o Maybe I am a wanker at times, but it takes 2 to tango -_-
Legit, you seem to raise this issue when you are trying to deflect something from yourself, both in the “spoilers” thread and now here. How is it that you feel because we haven’t said anything publicly it means we haven’t discussed it privately (we have, both to consider the morality and the legality of the subject, and on both counts we have come to a conclusion (1) it’s perfectly legal to do such a thing (2) it’s perfectly moral. There is a lad on the course I am currently studying who put a bid in on a car one of the girls was trying to sell. She clicked on his past purchase history and discovered he had bought a load of stuff including a gimp mask and rubber stockings and rubber y fronts with mesh, etc. She then told everyone and although he was outed as a sexual deviant, he and everyone else thought it was hilarious. Shit happens.
Legit, seem you seem to know it all, you will be aware that the data protection act only extends as far as the business world. WE are not a business, we store no information for commercial reasons and the Data protection act does not cover us. The very fact that you decided to crack Insane’s password in response, apparently, to your own guilty feelings because of past errors has everything to do with the fact that you have been a knob in the past (see above) and are now trying to atone for it by coming on here and telling us how we should run our “clan” (“I don’t like the way the recent expansion has gone”) and site.
Coincidentally, because at the time I assumed the message was aimed at me, have you any idea I have been around here? In fact no one of the “new” members (tose joined in the last year) that I can think of have commented on your postings. Regardless of whether I agree with you or not on the issue of the identity, I have been satisfied by the conversation help privately elsewhere on this board, you are not compelled to return here if you get your back up, but I guess you can never really do anything other than spoil for a fight.
For the record I was not convinced it was particularly the best thing to do to leave it unedited, but I was convinced by others that it wasn’t necessarily wrong, and after asking for their opinions and listening to them, I conceded the point. You’ve heard the arguments, it’s our site and our “clan”, let us police it as we see fit and drop the topic.

There is no point it trying to take an objective moral high ground in this argument Legit. Sure there is no right or wrong in the issue of posting someones mail which accidentally came to someone and they wished to share with us. I understand your sentiments and respect your views that you think that we are abusing someones privacy by posting their details on this forum. We are a community (of rednecks if you will in your own offensive way) The reason that we are here as a “community” is so that we can share a joke, a beer, a shoulder to lean on and sometimes to vent our frustrations but all with a respect and understanding for each other “in” and “around” the clan. That is the bottom line and you, in your own righteous way, seem to want to push this community by (it seems) finding new ways to wind us up. Sure enough this large group of “idiots” ,that you make a point of never underestimating the power of, are probably biased to your opinions unfortunatly due to never actually backing up your aguments and that, I have to tell you LeGit, is important if you want to garner peoples respect and understanding as opposed to hostillity which you seem to have managed in the past by being overtly headstrong to arguments which, if you are as intelligent as you assume yourself to be, you would have made a point of backing up your theory. As pointed out before; no-one has been attacked and no-one has been hurt in showing a harmless email that was accidentally sent. I gave you the benefit by agreeing that an address was not neccesary yet its still harmless and unless you are hunting for that address specific then its not going to affect anyone. In fact an address in a database that then gets shared or hacked is more harmfull than anything that has been posted here and whats more that brings me back to the reason I made a point of answering your first post.

So (speaking from a head up its own arsehole here)
I judge that recieving an email that someone was careless enough to put the wrong address and showing a small comunity for amusement with regards to some rather amusing cooking utensils or a vibrating arsehole etc is harmless fun maybe only harmfull if it was to be aired on national radio or somesuch like and then possibly embarassing to the individual who made the clumsy mistake in the first place.I judge that an individual making a concerted effort to hack into someone elses private account for their own amusement and then to insult the inteligence of said person by showing the vulnerability of their choice of password inside the close community of said person to be a concious and malicious act. Now please find someone outside of this community to back you up on this as I wouldnt want you to think we are ganging up on you.
But if you insist on continuing to shit on your own doorstep so much then accept also the fact that your only treading it in more.By the way I would have posted this an hour ago but ive had other problems to deal with so. First off I originally used this signature in 2003 on these very forums and a few other places, though I figured it was relevant enough to warrant a revival.
I won’t hold it against you Spunker – there are only 6 posts between yours and his 🙄 9/10 my points are ignored – typically Insane would reply with some dribble that I had already previously mentioned, arguing for the sake of it it seems but without actually reading or assimilating any information. As for my theories regarding going faster means dying less, I think the evidence is in the fact I ain’t dead yet or crashed riding like a crazy fool (yet) but still somehow manage to get under cars doing 30mph – I’m flat broke but if you hook be up with a Helmet cam you can get all of the proof you never really cared about within days…. As a general rule for everyone maybe it wouldn’t work, but for me it does. It takes a man with a pair of balls to do some stuff on a bike, but to do the stuff I do they have to be big and hairy! What do I need backup for exacly, I’m used to being outmanned but that doesn’t mean I’m outgunned, it just means I’m dealing with ignorance ;o Lets say someone who isn’t headstrong had the same opinions but agreed with me, wouldn’t they still just get all of the same shit I do? Wouldn’t you lot be equally headstrong for repeatedly opposing arguments to further impose your view?
Also – just because someone hasn’t been attacked (yet) doesn’t mean they won’t be attacked – heck I’m a crazy enough fool ffs I’d do it to prove a point! Anything is possible, the least that could have been done was to reduce collateral damage =/
As for the Favourite Sports team and Man Utd – the question was not private. Maybe he intended the account for public access, as anyone with an iota of intelligence knows the answer is supposed to be for you and you alone and not for anyone and their dog to type, but it was pretty obvious that even a child could get in there. Perhaps I shouldn’t have done it, but atleast I can admit to my mistakes. The password and reminder have been changed to something unreleated since and it is quite clear Insane likes Manchester United, so nothing there was out of the public domain. I could take your way of thinking and privately decide it’s OK to take MSN accounts? It wouldn’t make it any more right because people agreed to it =/
EDIT: But Wolf, the Data protection act is into effect. Although XDC is not a company, under the terms and conditions supplied by the host, it puts the data protection act within your jurisdiction because you are making the provider violate it via proxy. Also it also violates the terms and conditions of service when buying the name which if it didn’t violate the law, it does violate the hosts willingness to provide services.
