I know a few people have just recently gotten tf2 and because it’s a completely different type of game that what a lot of us are used to, here’s a thread for tips on how to actually play it. There are actually some good points in these even if you’ve been playing a while.
Just remember TF2 is a class game in the truest sense (much more so than BF), and it’s your ability to use the strengths of a class that win games.

July 15, 2008 at 12:36 pm #68530AlzirKeymasterI’ve been asked a few times about the upgrades so here’s a quick rundown….
First of all right now there are only unlocks available for Pyro and Medic as they’re only being released for one class at a time, with Heavy next in line. The upgrades don’t really change the way the class plays just offer some alternatives that can help in certain circumstances. If you look on the main menu in game there’s an option called “Achievements” and in there you can filter the list to show either the Medic or Pyro packs. Once you achieve 10 of these (in any order) you’ll reach milestone 1 and unlock your first weapon, achieve 16 you reach milestone 2, then 22 and you’ve got milestone 3 allowing all three unlocks for the class.
Mouse and anyone else wanting an invite to the XDC group on steam just add me to steam friends oliver_closeov@hotmail.com.
July 15, 2008 at 1:19 pm #68531XDCsPUNKerParticipantits not that difficult to get your head round it just appears confusing at first because of the whole looney tunes cartoon chaos that it may appear to be. Each class has a specific role to play and a good team can be a lot of fun. OK n0m so its not realism but its also not pretending to be realism so when a scout can jump over the top of someones head and turn round quick and shoot someone in the back they better hope that the same person hasnt turned around as they are really weak. suffice to say that each class has its strengths and weaknesses but the balance is damned near perfect. I would suggest that you dont stick to one class but try to take each map in and try a different class untill you find the right one that works for that map
July 15, 2008 at 1:28 pm #68532XDCiNSANEParticipantTiz a fine game for sure, but i like realism… unless realism involves fighting in a real war and not behind my monitor! 🙂
I read today that the makers of left for dead consulted TF2 people so they can get tips of them to make thier game just as good in relation to gameplay
July 15, 2008 at 8:14 pm #68533XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantMAX got it too, what ya reckon m8?
I found out only yesterday that theres a key bind to go straight to the loadout screen, thought going through the menu was a long way around. DOH.
July 15, 2008 at 11:48 pm #68534XDCMADMAXParticipantYeah, enjoying to be fair. It was confusing to start, but its growing on me, liking the heavy.
July 16, 2008 at 2:33 am #68535XDCJuDgE-MenTaLParticipantHeavy is great for pushing the bomb cart on Payload maps (Goldrush etc)
July 16, 2008 at 6:44 am #68536XDCiNSANEParticipantHoly crap, He’s playing? Theres a surprise 🙂

No I’ve got a pretty cool TF2 stats plugin for but I tend to use the Winamp one so Tf2 stats is a bit redundant. As for actual binds I haven’t found a need for extra keys yet.
