Weirdo.
I am liking your flicker pics m8 – some nice ones. You use a canon yeah?
I am interested in getting an SLR that can do movies as well – the quality with an SLR sensor doing HD movies is meant to be awesome – as well as being able to use different lenses.
Only one I have found that lets you use autofocus though is the panasonic GH1… but it costs a grand! 😯
I am tempted… but might wait for the price to come down.

Participanti have the canon eos 500D, takes good footage at 720/30fps and 1080/20fps. It does auto focus but is quite slow and a little noisy.

@wet.. what do you mean my noisy? is the noise recorded as the camera focuses?
i have not had a chance to play with any slrs that record vid as well.. other than drooling over the 5d mk2.. i really would like to get a hold of one of those.. but unless i win the lottery it is a no no 🙁

ParticipantIt is probably the way of the future -the large sensors make the quality of the footage in some ways even better than most high end consumer camcorders.
Trouble is the slowness and noise of the autofocus still makes them a bit crap for everyday use.
The panasonic is different as the lens was made specifically with movie autofocus in mind – so fast and very quiet (technically not an SLR – but simlar sort of quality.)
There will be others to come though…. great to only need to take one device with you for all your needs.
I really want an HD camera now so i can watch vids on my home cinema screen 🙂

yup, you get the noise of the small motor as the camera focuses on any footage you take. Once focussed it’s fine. I generally try and set my focus before i start filming but it’s not always practical.
When i get time i’ll upload some footage taken with the camera and see if i can get the noise on it.

ParticipantIt’s about time I get myself a new cam. I’m looking at the GF1 – What do you guys think of the 2/3s idea/implementation?
