Chaps whats a good ASUS board to go for, mines just died! Get power to it but nothing boots up at all, no display, nowt!
Checked fan on GC – OK
Checked fan on CPU = OK
Not the HD’s
Not the RAM –
Not the Power Supply
Not any other external cardIt started when I plugged my ipod in and it did not recognise the device and it completely hung
June 23, 2006 at 9:46 am #27854XDCNeonSamuraiParticipantI’ve heard that the green coloured ASUS boards are pretty good ๐
But don’t buy one yet Max.
It could be that there’s something shorting out the board. Try taking it appart with only the CPU (and fan) and the GFX card in place and then try booting. If that don’t work, try taking the mobo out of the case and sitting it on a non conductive surface and then try booting it.
That’s worked for me in the past. Hope it helps.

When my mobo farked it would not register the power.
Are you 100% sure your ram is fine as one of my ram chips went down a month or so ago that i was doing the same as what yours is.Try resetting your cosmos first.
Then if you are still having trouble do was neon said..

i think i know what the problem was. When you plugged your ipod in, the asus boards have an ‘anti gay peripherals’ sensor (patent pending). Your ipod therefore caused a complete meltdown due to a high level of shame and embarrassment ๐
Hope this helps

I have a P4 Northwood 800mhz fsb, 512kb L1 cache 2.8ghz chip socket 478.
Do you have the specs of your cpu?
As I would be very interested if it is the Prescott Version with 1MB Lvl1 cache ๐
June 24, 2006 at 9:29 pm #27866XDCMADMAXParticipantshite! I will call them to sort it.
right well went for:
Asus M2N32-SLi-DLX nForce 590 SLi (Socket AM2) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard (MB-142-AS)
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 4200+ 2.20GHz (Socket AM2) – Retail (CP-168-AM)
