Post the problem on some of these sites and the guys may be willing to give you some advice………..
I wish i had the know how to understand half the stuff i actually read about never mind actually being able to implement it 😉
Failing that, how about cutting into the actual phone line somewhere and running a seperate line to your room ?

Going to have a “chat” with them later, that is a proper sit down, air the greivances I have about them, without doing wwhat they do which is ring up the landlord for every minute thing either myself or my other decent housemate does.
As regards hacking the router, I have discovered the relevant passwords, but it would be fairly obvious what I have done, and quite frankly I wish to remain some sort of moral high ground.
If this chat doesn’t resolve it I have two options, call in the Universtiy accomadation services for independent arbitration, or call in the landlord and moan at him. I don’t want to do that because I don’t think he should be called for every little thing, but if I give them a chance then I can at least go to him and say “I have tried every reasonable line of reaso with them”
