Command to Display Your FPS in Battlefield 4
October 1, 2013 By Sabs Leave a CommentOne of the most useful options in Battlefield 4 is to display your frame rate. As you adjust your video settings, itโs good to know the impact changes have on the gameโs performance.
BF4 for the PC has a command to permanently display your frame rate in the top right corner.
To display your FPS, hit the tilde key (~) while in game to bring up the command console. Then, type the following command:
perfoverlay.drawfps 1 Hit tilde again to close the console. Your frame rate should then be displayed in the top right of the screen. Not only does it show the number of frames per second, but the number is color coded to show you whether your performance is excellent or whether itโs struggling a bit.
Green is displayed if your FPS is 60+, which is ideal.
Yellow appears youโve dropped below 60 FPS, but performance is still good enough not to greatly affect playability.
Red is displayed if you drop below 50 FPS. If your FPS is in the red, playability may be affected.
You can also add this FPS command to the user.cfg file so it is enabled automatically each time you runOctober 2, 2013 at 12:09 pm #85535Gary GoatParticipantExcellent thanks! I played a bit last night and was getting some massive FPS drops every so often. Anyone else noticed that?

Yep! My screen would freeze too and sutter for a few seconds, once the drivers catch up it will be fine im sure.

i5 2500k 3.3
12G ram
asus 6850 gpuOctober 2, 2013 at 4:31 pm #85538bmstalkerParticipantI kept dropping to 2-5fps last night but I have updated to nvidia beta drivers today and that seems to have fixed it.
October 2, 2013 at 5:11 pm #85539AlzirKeymasterSince i’ve got the link in front of me, for the nvidia beta drivers go here: http://www.geforce.co.uk/drivers
Search for you card, and then click the drivers at the top of the list.
October 2, 2013 at 7:58 pm #85540bmstalkerParticipantWith the new drivers, I get 80-120 FPS on ultra, made a massive difference.
October 2, 2013 at 9:54 pm #85541XDCMADMAXParticipantfuck it I have bought a Asus HD 7970 ๐
October 3, 2013 at 9:36 am #85542XDC wild egg tamerParticipantGTX 770 ftw ๐
October 3, 2013 at 4:19 pm #85543Beer_MonsterParticipantI just pushed the button on the same card Max. Bit of a bigger jump from a 3yr old 5870, so hopefully might see a little bit of improvement across a range of games ๐
I looked across a range of benchmarks with regards to the 7970 v 770 and it was very very even, each having a very very slight lead in different area, but to get a 770 card with more than 3Gb Vram, you are looking at well over a ยฃ100 extra and figured the 7970 was the best bang for buck card at the moment.
…………..that and i didn’t wanna spend all weekend scrubbing/reformatting my PC to get rid of the AMD drivers if I went down the 770 route. ๐

I haven’t seen any other colour !
In and around 33 fps. Think I saw it hit 48 fps once but I might have misread it ๐ Constant drops to 2 – 12 fps and plays like its sub 20fps.
Its an awful unplayable stuttering mess. Going to run some system logs and run around a bit and see whats recorded.
Safe bet my old intel quad 9550 and 6950 gpu have met their match.
October 4, 2013 at 10:35 am #85545XDCMADMAXParticipantwell my delivery of my 7980 in any minute, I hope it helps!
October 4, 2013 at 12:31 pm #85546XDCMADMAXParticipantIts here! yippppeee – no more 25fps
October 4, 2013 at 4:57 pm #85547AlzirKeymasterHas it made the difference you were hoping for?
October 4, 2013 at 6:59 pm #85548XDCMADMAXParticipantMassive difference Matt – getting 55-60 fps on ultra – I can actually play the game now
