I’m interested to know on which format each of us will be playing BFBC2.
I’m now in 2 minds whether to buy a new pc for around £1000 which will only be of benefit to me for playing BFBC2 or should i get a new TV and buy a 360/PS3 and make the move to consoles ?
I’ve always been a pc fanboy but the cost of upgrading to a new pc for essentially one game which i won’t play as much as i used to play BF42 is beginning to put me off. For an additional £500 approx on the cost of a new pc i could have a decent sony 42″ tv, blu ray dvd player/av receiver and a 360!
I’m not planning on doing anything until the games are released and i get feedback from players (you lot 😉 ) but would like to know who is planning on getting it and on what platform.

There is a great feature in custom PC about building a very good gaming rig for 500 quid. Think about how old the GFX card and CPU is in the XBOX and you can imagine how retrogade a step that would be. Plus all the other stuff you can do with the PC as well.
Thats before thinking of the controller issues!
BTW why CANT you use a mouse for gaming on the xbox? Surely that would be easy enough to do?
Ahh – answered my own question – there is a gizmo out there… dunno how good it is.

Bought BFBC for a tenner the other day just so I can get used to the controls as I’ve found playing FPS games quite a steep learning curve on a console. I suppose once you used to it you’ll be able to hone for skills in the same way as on a PC.

you dont even need to build the pc yourself, overclockers for example have pre-built systems for £500. although that doesnt include the monitor and other peripherals.

As i say i’ll wait until it’s released then decide, i’ve seen the overclockers systems and they seem pretty good.
December 20, 2009 at 7:14 pm #75139To0THBRU5HParticipantWill be getting it on 360. Really loving BF1943, this keyboard whining is nonsense. The first few games your brain spacks out a bit and then all is fine. Also love being able to have my feet up on my desk rather than being hunched over a keyboard 😀

December 21, 2009 at 8:18 am #75141XDCiNSANEParticipantAgree with Tooth and Lammie to a point, Although I prefer KB/M, the Ctrl is a learning curve to be sure, but its not a long one, I have good days and bad days tbh, mostly good as I do with PC.. and its only FPS that bothers me, the rest I’d rather use a CTRL for
I wouldnt bother with a device though I dont think, Cant imagine playing with a mouse and keyboard sat on the sofa, sounds a little uncomfortable to me
p.s. TV’s.. You’d be best to spend as much as you can on a fine set, you’ll get more use reading above out of that than a PC tbh.. I certainly wouldnt spend a grand just for one game, not anymore mate
I reckon you are wise to wait too, specs mean naff these days in most cases, remember soldner and its destruction, remember BF:V and its temple lag? hehe
Mind you that was moons ago so hopefully they’ll deliver lag free.. knowing EA, they’ll sort it after release like they did with BFBC and BF1943 on Console 🙂December 21, 2009 at 10:35 am #75142XDCMADMAXParticipantPC for me, to much of a cursor key fan boy
December 21, 2009 at 2:03 pm #75143sickofitallParticipantIf you’ve got a PC and a console then the PC is the only sensible option because of the huge difference in the 2 versions.
You want to know what the difference is?
About 15 fucking quid, that’s what.
December 21, 2009 at 4:15 pm #75144AlzirKeymasterI thought you were going for that top of the range PC because you had money to burn 🙂 £500 should get you one that’ll run most things for the next 3 years, especially if you have a monitor and peripherals already. My current one will be 5 year old come March, I’ve spent much less than £500 on it (probably around £350), and I expect it will run BC2. Spending on top of the range stuff isn’t necessary.
December 21, 2009 at 4:49 pm #7514511thSignalParticipantpc for me!!!
December 21, 2009 at 8:20 pm #75146XDCSprogParticipant360 for the win !
December 22, 2009 at 9:03 am #75147sickofitallParticipantIf you’re getting this for PC regardless it’s 24.99 on pre-order from Gameplay
I only mention it because I’ve noticed that the prices of PC games are likely to go up a bit closer to release dates (MW2 was actually 24.99 for a while as well as I recall).
It’s 38 quid on Xbox though, so you’re probably better off waiting to see if the supermarkets knock it down for a weekend if you’re getting it on console.
You could probably get it a bit cheaper if you looked around, but Gameplay are pretty reliable for sending stuff out.
In all honesty, I’ve not decided I’m buying this anyway. Didn’t mind Bad Company (constantly stabbing yourself in the chest was a pretty cheap way of recovering health and grated a bit), but haven’t really liked a BF game since 1942.
