ParticipantIs this worth buying? I mean I’m quite happy on Vista at the moment. What’s the improvements? Cheers.

ParticipantWord on the street is that this is like the new XP – not as bloated and annoying as vista – very fast and relatively streamlined, but with all the extras. Basically the OS people like me (who have studiously avoided vista on their own PC) have been waiting for since XP came out!
I haven’t actually tried the beta myself yet – but most of what i read is very positive.

ParticipantI’ve never really minded Vista ‘cept the constant ‘Are you sure’s?’ Though I turned of UAC and it was all-good. Felt it was important to get to grips with Vista as I do bits of technical support just for when more places take it up. I find Vista to be like a Mac OS port. Shall have to Google Win 7 and see what all the fuss is about? If I’m happy with Vista then it sounds like maybe there isn’t so much point changing just yet? Cheers for the reply Doc.

ParticipantWell – if you play games on your PC it probably is worth changing – it will use less resources and so make for more efficient use of your specs. If not (and you dont want to get a touch screen for a media centre or something) then i guess vista should be fine if you are happy.

Participantwill it be friendlier to my aging pc than perhaps vista would be ? I’m running 3gb of ram but it’s an old P4.

ParticipantHad a look now. That touchscreen stuff sure looks sweet but I’m addicted to laptops and until they release a 42″ touchscreen TV (that I can afford), guess I’ll be sticking with Vista in all it’s resource hugging glory!

Not sure wet – its good for 64 bit processors – i guess that doesen’t include you? (would still be better than vista though… just maybe not worth it if you have a really crappy machine.)

ParticipantI’m running a pentium 4, 3.2ghz with 3gb of ram. Perhaps it may well struggle so i guess i’ll stick with XP for now.

Participantwell if anyone upgrades and has a spare XP pro key they would like to donate to me i’d much appreciate it! I keep getting this damn nagging screen and every fix i’ve tried won’t remove it.

Participant£95 should sort that problem out Mr WET 🙂

Participanti know, but can’t be arsed to fork out £95 for an OS that is out of date but at the same time have a pc that can’t run the latest which i’d be happy to pay for.
I may update my pc next year if funds allow, i’ll tolerate the nag screens until then.
