I have so much footage from tonight and the weekend I don’t know even where to begin these days when it comes to youtube, but anyone who’s ever been slightly interested by Planetside may be interested to learn that we are finally getting our act together….and that we have a squad of 4-6 players on daily. We even had Voo on the last two nights.
We’re developing a somewhat unique style in PS2 based mostly on the theory that we’re actually a hell of a lot better than the majority of infantry players in this game, and so we should be able win when badly outnumbered with a bit of teamwork. The videos below show some of our recent results 🙂
This is getting towards what I always thought we could do in this game, but more importantly it’s so much fun compared to what you normally see from our semi lonewolf style in BF games. I can’t remember ever seeing the kind of squad cohesion from XDC as we’re seeing daily now in PS2, except on a few rare occasions where it happens by accident in BF. In PS2 we’re all on the same team, and with the MMO style it’s all about setting ourselves our own goal and sticking to it to the best of our ability.
Anyway, the first video is a great attempt to take an extremely valuable point from a strategic perspective, and if we get it, XDC may be stamped on the map as the outfit who capped it….

If the above piqued your interest, the video below is a little longer, and was about 15 minutes earlier in the same session.

There was another fight in between which I may post later, but also a ridiculous effort tonight which I hope I captured because it may even eclipse both the above.
In short, we’re kicking ass, we have XDC working together as a team as never before, and this is a free to play FPS which not enough of you are believing is as good as I’ve been saying for almost 2 years now. Come back, give it a go again, be patient, and you’ll be part of this as well. I’m not exaggerating when I say we’re managing stuff like this every day (check the rest of my channel if in doubt).

Small fight on crux mining, great base for sniping as its big and open.
[youtube:23chw9ej]N_QA6bhV9js[/youtube:23chw9ej]Then there was that crazy last stand at crux HQ

At the moment there’s no way to use a custom logo, although that feature’s coming soon. We unlocked a cheap decal though so we do have a symbol of sorts for now.

There’s a lot more in the game to get your head around than any recent BF game that I’ve played, but once you know your way around and understand the flow of the game, you’ll realise that the gunplay and mechanics are not too far removed from BF3.
It helps if you run with a squad, and we’ll try our best to guide new players through, but we’ll also be dropping you into some tough situations, so understand that you’ll die a lot 🙂 Gary, Ben, Zigzag, my brother Bakura, and Zirath (who you’ll likely not know), are all fairly new to the game but are all doing rather well for themselves at the moment. Zigzag and my brother are also doing well despite the handicap of a huge ping from china for Zigzag, and a ridiculously low framerate for my brother (5 or 6 year old PC).
If you have the patience to take a few deaths, as we go in search of good fights, you’ll pick up what we’re doing and why we’re doing it as we go along. You will feel a little lost and overwhelmed initially but if you follow our lead, then by the time you’ve played through a decent session or two, you’ll have a good grasp of what’s going on 🙂
July 23, 2014 at 1:46 pm #86510bmstalkerParticipantI have really enjoyed the last few weeks of planetside. We have been working better and better as a team and the thing that made it even more awesome last night was having people doing each class. Of course I’d rather have Alex going medic so I can hoover up kills as heavy but I did do pretty well as medic on my 2nd real attempt and rich was brilliant as engineer too. Garys sniping and general sneakyness is top notch as always and the complimenting heavies give a lot of firepower and are well supported.
This time is an even better time fer newer players to start because of that support network already in place and most of ye more experienced players can lead the squad now. If we can recruit more xdc, we will literally be one of the most feared outfits on the server.

I spend most of my time following Matt around as he really knows all the locations, and spent the first few hours confused and getting mowed down by much better players..This is changing now though, and I’ve been having a blast, albeit still getting pummeled and occasionally lost. The team play is great, the maps are huge with loads of locations, which take time to learn, and it’s free to play, so of course there’s “levelling up” to be done, but it doesn’t get in the way of the fun…
Well worth a look, and once the squad gets to 5 plus members we kick arse. Give it a go, it’s free after all 🙂
July 23, 2014 at 6:23 pm #86512AlzirKeymasterThat was some fine sniping again there Gary in those videos 🙂 I was also uploading the same Last stand fight overnight, which is on youtube now and hope you don’t mind me shamelessly stealing your title (I assume ok since your video’s unlisted).
July 23, 2014 at 9:42 pm #86513bmstalkerParticipantAaaaaaand from medic point of view. The level 6 medic tool is awesome, really need res grenade though, should unlock it tomorrow.

More to come later as we had some epic fights throughout the day yesterday.
July 27, 2014 at 9:53 am #86516bmstalkerParticipantXDC leaving a big streak across the map. Damn we’re good.
Also, if you don’t get the significance of what you see in these videos, normally when you attack an objective in planetside, conventional wisdom says you need to outnumber the enemy as they have a close, indestructable respawn and we don’t. It’s far easier to defend a flag than attack. What’s happening in these videos if it’s not clear, is that we are going in as a 3 or 4 man squad and holding the flag against 15 to 20 people which is pretty tricky and requires close teamwork. These are very tense periods of fighting and we are successful more often than not.
August 13, 2014 at 7:38 pm #86517XDCMADMAXParticipantOK OK I will re download lol
you boys seem to be having a lot of fun
August 14, 2014 at 11:47 am #86518AlzirKeymasterLooking forward to it max 🙂 Just jump on TS when you’re free, and anyone else for that matter. You can normally see when we’re in game from steam, but if you message me on steam you may have to wait a minute or two before I can reply as things can get quite tense and be quite involved sometimes in game.
