ParticipantI was about to say this can’t be a proper XDC forum post about banning someone without one of us threatening to leave but then it side stepped nicely into lots of man-sex talk – so everthing is ok in the XDC world after all. We can all sleep easily in our beds tonight 😉
i said sleep… 🙄

ParticipantI kinda like seeing the game as the developer intended so am willing to sacrifice a bit of fps for the graphical gorgeousness.

ParticipantGot to admit I’m surprised at how many of those who should know better are rushing to install this on their main PCs on the day of release. It took a good year for XP to mature with the main bugs ironed out and for manufacturers to catch up with decent drivers.
Whatever you think of the MS developers they are obviously paying their PR department plenty.

ParticipantMore on this
Due to additional requirements in the Windows Vista driver certification process, the release of the final signed drivers for the Sound Blaster range will move out beyond our initial projected date until early March. The current Beta drivers are still valid for use under Vista and are required to take advantage of the benefits of Creative ALchemy with the Sound Blaster X-Fi range to restore multichannel audio and EAX to your games. We appreciate your understanding for this change to the schedule as we work to bring you the best experience for your Sound Blaster series cards while adhering to the requirements of this new operating system.
Creative Alchemy??
See here:
http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=Vista&message.id=5009I don’t see BF2142 listed as being supported…. 🙄
For the initial beta phase of Creative ALchemy, we made the decision to concentrate on products based on the X-Fi chip. Support for Audigy 2 and 4 class products will be determined as the current beta progresses and we are able to assess the quality of the beta and overall demand for Creative ALchemy
Let me translate – “If you want your Audigy card to use EAX under Vista – tough shit – upgrade to X-Fi and hope we can be bothered to get the drivers out”

vista works fine for me, no issues other then beta driver for x-fi, top OS.
From the creative site:
Known issues:
This driver does not support the following:
Decoding of Dolby® Digital and DTS™ signals
DVD-Audio
DirectSound®-based EAX games
6.1 speaker mode.
SPDIF passthrough is supported on Vista 32-bit only.
Applications from the original Sound Blaster X-Fi CD will not work with this download.Thats a joke. No EAX on games? Wtf? Still holding off……
