It was just a couple of days ago that it was explained to me that there were pod ejector doors on the titan decks… I’d never seen them before and couldn’t work out how ppl were podding over to the enemy titan.

this is new for me as well, how does that work then
I’m sure all this was in the Titan training video that was played when you first ran the game ๐

The pods controls are exactly the same as infantry controls. Mouse to look around and WSAD keys to move forwards / backwards etc. It’s like when you’re in a parachute, but quicker. My pro tip is to look downwards as soon as you launch, I find it much easier to steer when looking straight down for some reason.
You can’t steer parachutes anymore though can you?

Look on the bright side, at least you weren’t relaxing in a gentlemans way when she walked in or you’d have had about 10 seconds before she got upstairs to close down your browser, jump up and do a mad chinamans trot to the bog whilst trying to pull your pants up from round your ankles so that you could flush away your wank hanky before she was any the wiser.
Now that’s a Mission Impossible – that pint sized sci fi nerd Tom Cruise dunt know the ‘alf of it.
LMAO – chinamans trot ๐

Yup. Me too.
I tried Medusas – didn’t like them and I think 5.1 headphones are a gimmick anyway esp at รฦรโรยขรขโยฌร ยกรฦรขโฌลกรโรยฃ42 a pop. Be prepared to spend twice that and get a decent pair of Senns.

Anyone got some tips for podding on to the top of your titan from your drop pods? Always seems a bit hit and miss as it shoots me away from the damn thing.
As soon as you launch press the S key – or whatever key you use to go backwards. That will get you above the titan and then you can steer down as normal.

ParticipantLooks like you’ve answered you own question zig! ๐
I agree with everything you’ve said, including the bit about not needing a rule. We didn’t with capable flag raping on BF2 – it was just a judgement call when it happened and up to the admin. You and Dei are right – there are times when the beacon is inaccessible or it would be suicide for the defender to take it out. Thats fair. I just didnt want to see people sitting round a beacon picking off people for kill points as they spawned.

Yeah, any clues to identifying who a beacon belongs to gratefully received lol.
If the policy is going to be to discourage camping enemy beacons because of its similarity to regular spawn-camping, then there should be a server motd to that effect. No problemo.
If you get close to your own beacon it should appear as a green icon on the HUD.
Agreed about the message. I’ll see about fixing the server message that appears when you load maps.
um….are we going to have some discussion about this or has ‘spawn beacons are off limits even when they’re near enemy flags’ suddenly become the policy?
No its not ‘policy’ yet and its still open for discussion. I’m not sure what you mean though when you say ‘spawn beacons are off limits’. Imo all enemy spawn beacons should be destroyed quickly if found and not farmed for cheap easy kills. The spawn radius round a beacon is small so it would be quite easy to cover it with an APC/walker/bandit and rack up 10+ kills before the squad tires and stops spawning on it.
I’d just be surprised if we allow this because we’ve never condoned any sort of camping on XDC servers. Zigzags situation was unique – he couldnt see the beacon and the attacking squad misinterpreted the situation. But to say its okay to stand near a beacon and shoot people as they spawn when you could easily kill the beacon is something I’d have a lot of trouble with. Having said that I will live with it if the majority decide otherwise. Time for a poll?
I still need to edit the server welcome message though. Its empty at the mo.

What’s blue? I swear I keep seeing them with blue on them?
That’s the move squad beacon. When squad leader selects T and move here command you’ll see that little blue thing – Fookin annoying when ya close to it!
Nah – thats yellow isnt it? ๐

ParticipantI knew from the first day of playing 2142 that camping the mobile spawn beacon was going to be an issue.
First off – Zig wasn’t doing anything wrong from what i can see. If he genuinely couldnt see the beacon then fair enough but it would be easy to see why the other team would get narked.
But if you can see the beacon then in my opinion its extremely lame not to destroy it. Yes it tactically sound to camp it and stop them spawning but equally you could apply that to capable flags. What then would be wrong in sitting in an APC outside the capping radius of an enemy flag and raping the crap out of the other side as they spawn?? You could say that you were providing support for your team as they go in to cap it?
Yet we disapprove of that and have kicked people before for doing it esp in BF2 (remember the apc/armour campers at the hotel flag in Karky?). I think its no different for mobile spawns. Yes its tactics, yes the squad have a choice but imo its poor gamesmanship and I say we shouldnt allow it on our server. And having a sense of fairplay is what makes our server different and gets decent players coming back.

ParticipantI think there’s no getting round the fact you have to get some crap unlocks before getting your hands on the decent stuff. My preferred combos at the moment:
Recon: invisible cloak, RDX and Lambert Carbine – essential for attacking titans. Haven’t touched the other recon unlock path (scope etc) as snipers are loners who like to lie in the grass and play with themselves. And thats not a healthy lifestyle choice.
Assault: Voss, defib and rockets. I’ve seen the light with the assault rocket unlock. Very useful once you master it. The shotty is useless. Unless you do headshots you will be lucky to come out of a 1 on 1 situation alive. 3 shells is not enough.
Engy: the Pilum, EMP mines and motion mines for the deadliest combo.
Support: Clark shotty, Sentry bot and EMP grens. EMP grenades are possibly the best defence against walkers as even with the plum its a struggle to take them down without some suitably placed motion mines to help or a suicide mission to place the plum in the walkers poop shute. Drop a ammo box and you can spam emps at walkers until the driver gives up or the thing explodes. Not normally approve of spamming anything in BF but doing it to walkers is the exception.
Squad leader – get the UAV drone. Its v useful for finding & hunting down enemy stragglers when you take flags. Much more use that the gun drone.

First post – so hello every1. Played on ur server a few times now – good job with keeping the *ankers in check and therfore getting darn good gamage ๐ .
Plus imo some of the titan maps in conquest mode don’t work that well as the CP’s are so spaced out, but thats just my view.
Lo barryj – seen you on the server a few times of late and played in your squad. Welcome ๐
Yeah I’m aware of feedback on other forums which says some of the conquest versions of titan maps are wank. But we can trial this for a few days and find out. I think I’ve only played Verdun at conquest and it was pretty good. It may be that some of them are better at 16 player size.
What I don’t want to happen is a repeat of BF2 where all we ever played was Karki and Sharqui just to fill the server up. I’m already seeing this on other servers which are running Gibraltar/Tunis 24/7. I think the 2142 maps are much more balanced so I am hoping we can keep all the maps going and still keep the server full.

ParticipantThere’s a few things that spring to mind.
Firstly don’t underestimate the ‘Max Factor’. If he’s on your team he does all the killing. If he’s on the opposite team you get killed alot.
Then there’s TS which is a big distraction. Once you remove TS and the chat that goes on then you become more focused on the game esp on a server you don’t know.
Also if you were playing on a 64 player server then the ticket count is higher and you are more likely to kill more people in a round – the main reason why those after badges go onto big servers.
And I suppose we are all L11TB too ๐
