Damn this is much harder than the orginal, and better for it! The second last stage last night on fair ground was hilarious 😆 I think we could do better running down the final straight, maybe all taking the auto shotgun and taking turns on point, alternating between reloads. I was using it myself and it mows down everything along the path, but only gets you so far before you have to reload. Of course we could just continue to die horribly like last night because it’s funny 🙂
Anyone know why the chopper didn’t turn up on the final stage? Were we premature in running up for it?
It’s extremely frustrating that you keep getting kicked nom, especially with some of regulars getting away with blue murder considering the rules they’re trying to enforce. I don’t think anyone with our tag has been kicked without it being a mistake. The only way to fix the situation would be speak to them via their forums, but could you be arsed? Sadly that’s what we’re reduced to without a server of our own.
The autobalance is a pain in the arse, and seems to affect you more than most Jonny, though Paddy is often swapped as well, but I don’t think it’s a server setting?
We have nowhere to go on lunches and breaks out here, so I get plenty of time for talking shit 🙂
Anyway I also like points where you have multiple routes away from but it’s not really true of the fish market as you only spawn in one location there, where east and west are the best choices, and natural choice is towards the yard. North and North West (to Old Square) are much more difficult. Quite often that one spawn location is also under heavy pressure and it becomes a kill zone in itself – although this was a lot of fun last night when it happened with me spawning there 🙂 It’s an alright point to have, but the construction site is better for the reasons you’ve given, and I wouldn’t even consider that a lynchpin, and that’s my point overall I think, there is no lynchpin point really.
The harbour is only good as a defensive point for China or as a foothold for US. It’s important not to leave it as China’s last point I think, but there’s no point going for it every time it’s captured for either side when there are other points to cap, and same goes for TV stations and gatehouse/factory on Sharqi/Karki.
Was good to see you stella’s, just a pity we couldn’t get on the same side for long enough or in the same squad 🙁 PB’s been a bitch to most of us since reviving the game, but a manual PB update sorts it out…if not ask Max how he gets around it 😉

We had some good games of this on Saturday night with the Rats, and some UFF and OHP guys/Draco. It was my first versus game in L4D2, and it was tricky getting used to some of the new classes, but good fun overall. It was also my first time playing a couple of the new campaigns, and after initially thinking this game was a bit too similar to the original, I’ve completely changed my mind and decided it’s a massive improvement. The finale to the campaign through the fairground is just brilliant 🙂

Not a lot
He popped into IRC a few weeks back, and I saw that he had stuck his head into TS at some godforsaken hour one night I forgot to log out of it. Anyway he’s still travelling quite a bit, and says he doesn’t get a lot of time for games atm, but I’m sure he suggested he might be tempted back into something. He still reads here from time to time, just doesn’t post much because of time restraints etc.
Anyway, just another example of how IRC is useful 😉
tbh I’m more of a lone wolf type as well, and it’s the same with any game I play. You just can’t beat that feeling when you take out an entire squad by yourself, or in TF2 when you break into 2fort by yourself, beating half their team solo on the way in, and then again on the way out (and more times with insta spawns :)). It’s too much fun to help it, but it is to the detriment of the team overall, as I’d surely be more successful going in with backup. In BF2 Jonny and Paddy do a great job supporting us with spawn points, and it shows in your score when you’ve been part of a good squad. Paddy also boosts my score quite a bit with his charge in tactics, giving me a lot of revives 🙂
1943 sounds like a lightweight mission pack type offering, using the same engine as BFBC2? When it comes out doesn’t really bother me as it will only have 3 maps.
Actually I wonder if you’ll be able to slot it into a BFBC2 server rotation, because otherwise I can’t see it taking up much of my time.
£29.99 on steam, but they still have that 4 pack thing going on where you can buy 4 copies for £89.99. That’s how I got mine along with the rats.
