KeymasterWe have a short work week coming up with SOE Live, but we will try to get in a small tuning patch before then. I can’t guarantee this will happen (sometimes stuff goes wrong), but we will be targeting early next week.
Please note this is not the only thing we will do with alerts or Nanite costs moving forward; this is just the first step.
Adversarial Alerts
We will be lowering the criteria to trigger the alert so you will see them more often and they are more achievable.
Launch criteria – Min Faction %: 51% (down from 75%)
Attacker dominating win%: 65% (down from 85%)
Defender win %: 50% (up from 35%)Nanites
We will be increasing the cost of pulling a MAX to reel in the MAX spam a bit.
MAX cost increased to 450 (up from 350).Coming soon. Posting because the alert criteria is worth knowing..

KeymasterSo the public beta is available for £50 I see…how’s the game looking so far?

Keymasteroh no, poor guy…

KeymasterYou jammy bastard, but enjoy your holiday 🙂
Oh and regarding this server smash the interest wasn’t enough for us to get in as an outfit, but I’m waiting to hear back regarding our place on a possible reserve list. With 300 players roughly per side, the chances of reserves being called up might be quite high, but we’ll not likely be in the same squad together.

KeymasterSome more action from yesterday.

More to come later as we had some epic fights throughout the day yesterday.

KeymasterIf anything, you’ll have a better ping to it than you do to EU servers, but it’ll probably be a higher ping than on Connery. Last time I was on Jaeger, my ping was about 110.

Keymasterlol ben 62 certs in 16 minute life, I’m surprised you don’t main as a medic….i think I missed you saying that at time, since I’d just entered a benny hill sketch.

KeymasterThat was some fine sniping again there Gary in those videos 🙂 I was also uploading the same Last stand fight overnight, which is on youtube now and hope you don’t mind me shamelessly stealing your title (I assume ok since your video’s unlisted).

you need to make a logo , it displays on the banners around bases if you are the dominant outfit.
At the moment there’s no way to use a custom logo, although that feature’s coming soon. We unlocked a cheap decal though so we do have a symbol of sorts for now.
Sounds like I may need to have a go on this. Is it easy to pick up and get stuck in or is there a steep learning curve?
There’s a lot more in the game to get your head around than any recent BF game that I’ve played, but once you know your way around and understand the flow of the game, you’ll realise that the gunplay and mechanics are not too far removed from BF3.
It helps if you run with a squad, and we’ll try our best to guide new players through, but we’ll also be dropping you into some tough situations, so understand that you’ll die a lot 🙂 Gary, Ben, Zigzag, my brother Bakura, and Zirath (who you’ll likely not know), are all fairly new to the game but are all doing rather well for themselves at the moment. Zigzag and my brother are also doing well despite the handicap of a huge ping from china for Zigzag, and a ridiculously low framerate for my brother (5 or 6 year old PC).
If you have the patience to take a few deaths, as we go in search of good fights, you’ll pick up what we’re doing and why we’re doing it as we go along. You will feel a little lost and overwhelmed initially but if you follow our lead, then by the time you’ve played through a decent session or two, you’ll have a good grasp of what’s going on 🙂

KeymasterI know I’ve asked you all in person or on steam, but could everyone who can make this for sure reply here so I remember what we’ve got.

KeymasterGood job finding the original post yesterday, as the forums were inaccessible, but yea this is worth talking about because it’s going to be pretty major for us.
First of all, I can’t see it happening until after the Merger smashes which are scheduled for this weekend between Woodman and Miller, and two weeks later between Ceres and Cobalt. After that we have some decisions to make.
Firstly, lets try not and worry too much about 48+ meat grinders on each lattice lane, I’m hoping some of the base designs right now will accommodate them better and that hossin will absorb the majority of players, however they’ll definitely also change the limit of continent locks to 1 at these times (after today’s patch it’s already a dynamic system based on population), and that may still spread people around enough to facilitate our preferred types of fights. We’ll see how it goes though, but we shall also have the continent lattice and battle islands hopefully within the next few months to help spread things out a bit more, although tbh we’re probably as well not holding our breath on that one.
What we may want to consider though is how to use this to our advantage. Between Miller and Woodman TR, I can see the main Miller outfits absorbing a lot of players from the Woodman crap, in order to organise them better, so as far as our plan to make an XDC outfit on Woodman goes, I think that’s a non starter right now (although I want to see how things pan out initially). On Ceres and Cobalt though we may have more options. If we open XDC up for recruitment there we might be able to boost our numbers to a level which might permit an evolution in our current playstyle.
We’ve found a pretty good niche right now in that we can be extremely effective at delaying and even preventing base captures when badly outnumbered, but it’s incredibly difficult for us to do the same in attack. The reason for this is that a 4 or 5 man squad just can’t be everywhere at once when attacking a big base, and when you need that many people to lock down a flag on a smaller base, all it takes is one mistake and a loss of your sundy/beacon, and it’s all over. If we had 2 or 3 squads of the same size working together, we could a lot more when we need to. I’d love to see us able to keep our current squad setup, and size, where we’re working well as a close unit, and if we could find a few able randoms able to fit in with the style, we could become a real force without the need to become too zergy or resorting to simple macro management of 48 player platoons.
Anyway, given that a server merge between Ceres and Cobalt will also see some player movement, and the outfit recruitment tool was updated recently, this is probably an opportunity for us not to miss, but are we up for the work it would require? For example, we’ll have to get to know a ton of new people in probably a short period of time while trying to integrate them into our current style (which is a lot different from standard outfits), and we might end up having to mix current xdc members up with randoms to ensure the squads work right, if we’re ending up with too many people in one place.

Keymasterlol line, and there’s something for you to do with your new 3D modelling skills Ben 🙂
Anyway here’s the clusterfuck fight on Easimir you were talking about. There really were a shit load of them in that wee room, and I still don’t know why they didn’t charge us!

Oh and interesting seeing that fight from your perspective Gary, because I’ve just literally watched it again from mine, and finished compiling a video of it (I’ll upload it later). Some cracking sniping shots in there and of course a great shot on that mossie at the end 🙂

I’m a massive Star wars geek, but I never even considered the original because it was 3rd person. I’m just hoping they make this an FPS, because otherwise it’ll be highly unlikely to interest me, regardless of how good the gfx are.

KeymasterBen you need to get on for this, with bonuses and membership I was earning certs at a rate of 5 a minute (or, put another way, more than you get for capping a major facility, every minute).
edit: that was without a boost active for the majority of the session actually.
