I disagree re spotting. Nice concept to promote teamplay… but it is a snipers dream come true. Sure you can spot snipers as well.. but they are usually in a fucking bush 2 miles away – so not much chance of that.
I like sneaking about right up at the enemy lines… spotting just fucks it up… especially with sniper motion mines and spotting scopes. In fact I am generally fed up with snipers… I enjoy a dabble now and then and seem to be getting good kills… but FFS there are too many players who just snipe all the time without trying to cap flags / get MCOMS.
What I did like was having spots appear on the mini map which you could only see by pressing shift whilst in game… how did that work before?
So… if you saw an APC or an enemy near your base you could spot them… players could see on their maps the rough location… but wouldn’t have a big stupid red mark on their head.
As a compromise I would vote for spotting on, mini map on, 3d spotting OFF.
Am 100% in agreement with Bob re the banning stuff. Really pisses me off when admins let power get to their heads (not talking about XDC here… just admins in general.) There needs to be a half decent reason to ban… and you should ALWAYS spare a few seconds to quickly type out the reason so they can see it. I have heard a few dubious calls for kicks on TS in the last few weeks… nothing serious… but its a slippery slope.

There is some kind of football game on I think however… may distract some people for reasons I don’t understand.
If you do the work yourself it aint that dear…. I kind of got screwed by the guy who pulled my cables on price I think,,, but the cost for everything (NAS…. few hundred feet of cat 5… faceplaces… server box… switch… patch panels… paying someone to pull all the cables and do all the terminations… came to about 1300 I reckon. You could save almost half that by doing all the work yourself.
The thing is… there isn’t another house with a network like this for a few hundred miles where I live (no exaggeration) so I think it could potentially be a deal maker if I went to sell the house…. so would be worth it.

Cat 5 e is not too dear – I got mine from cable monkey.
The NAS…. you could spend 100 quid… or over a thousand. I reckon mine is a good deal for what you get…

When i bought mine they had an offer to give you a free 2nd 1terabyte drive when you bought it.
re the NAS… any computer on the network can stream or upload to it. Because I have put a 1 gig network through the house I can potentially stream 2 HD videos (blu-ray quality) in two different locations simultaneously 😀
