The danger of reading overclocker forums too much is that you might end up buying quad core CPU’s and crossfire GFX cards like yourself – both rather dubious activities in my opinion! 😈

PC component makers are very similar to guys who sell Hi-Fi’s – 95% bullshit very cleverly marketed in the mid to high range category.
In Vista there is some payback from 1 to 2GB but the payback from 2 to 3 only shows in benchmarks and then only by tiny amounts other than in video editing. Going for 4… heck its hard to argue against more of anything… but bang for buck on his budget suggests to me getting a good motherboard/GFX card before extra ram. Easy to buy another couple of gig later when he has more money if he wants.
Agree having a good PSU is important, but they dont have an option for any of the big names on that site. Having said that – I have a PC specialist comp with that PSU running for 3 years now… currently powering geforce 8800GTX.
Easy to get sucked in by hype building PC’s – take crossfire for example 😈
1) Fuck water cooling – you dont need it.
2) On board graphics? Are you nuts? Go for a good mid range card like the gtx275.
3) DONT buy the stuff drom overclockers… you will end up paying more than a pre build… and since you are an idiot you may well blow yourself up.
4) You would be safer just buying a working OS and getting the upgrade voucher rather than trying to install a beta Win 7 (just my personal opinion.)I specced this up for you on PC specialist.

Sorry to hear about your wife. MS affects more Scottish people than any other country so I have seen a lot of it over the years. Be strong for her – she will need you a lot over the years, but lots of people live with the disease for many years without to many impingements on their life.

Too much to hope that they have properly balanced against air raping? Fixed MG’s and AA were just too useless to be an effective AA counter… ruined the game IMHO. One patch they sorted it by increasing MG dmg to planes… but one patch later they messed it up again.
