has anyone seen a bbc series called ‘rome’ ? i don’t have a telly so didn’t know about it till recently browsing some dvds. Is it any good? I might rent it from love film if its interesting. Surely can’t match up to I claudius can it?

Participant80p fo a 20 min trip? get in! The UK pays less per head of population on the rail network than just about any other european nation. British rail (as it was) was pretty shit too…. but I can’t say that the service has improved any….. and now you need to remortgage your house if you want to take a train to London from up here.
we used to pay huge government subsidies for a so so service…. but at least the money stayed in the system… now it has to be siphoned off on multiple management teams and shareholders dividends.
when is the revolution going to start? I’m getting impatient. 😈

and i bet it will still cheaper than them getting 2 last minute train tickets.
flippin tell me about it! As someone sitting on a train this very second (for the first time in a long while) I am seething about this overpriced piece of shit rail service. Should never have been privatised.

Participantaint seen any devil worshipping here yet…. quite the contrary. If you don’t go to church twice on Sundays you are seen to be a heathen (yes that’s right… you need to go to church TWICE here to get to heaven… the kids must hate it.)
As for the other…. the sheep here sure have pretty mouths 🙂 I have just discovered that if you wear extra big wellies you can stick their back legs in them before attempting anythng… stops em running away a treat. 😯

ParticipantPlaying this on PC at the moment. The destructible environments are incredible… a lot of love has gone into them.
They do seem to have just nicked the whole Max Payne gameplay lock stock and barrel though… without the interesting film noir atmosphere and superb plot of that game.
Quite enjoyable nonetheless… if you want some mindless arcade action its well worth buying.

Participantjust got this delivered by amazon … looking forward to it!
Far cry was superb… I remember just staring at the water on the beach back then and thinking ‘fuck me PC games have come a long way’ Hope they have kept the no loading screen concept in the new one too… very nice design.

Participantlol at you using AOL.
I sympathise m8…. but at least there is someone in the world worse off than you…. ME!!!
After many broken promises I have been informed that the broadband wireless network on this fucking island wont be up till Feb now. 8 months without broadband!
Its a testament to how good the lifestyle is out here that I havent missed it as much as i thought I would… but I do miss my games of COH

Participanthmmm – the falklands? great idea! 😯 the companies that let you take cars across the states usually have very tight schedules and insist on you taking the shortest route… not much of a holiday… basically don’t listen to that crazy turkey boy 😀
anyway – the trip sounds great… hope u got plenty of cash for it! my personal wish list would be new zealand and oz, bali, thailand for the islands and full moon parties… followed by angkor wat in cambodia then the taj mahal and the banks of the gangees in india. peru and chile in samerica before checking out belize. guatamala (google tikal… its awesome!) and mexico (the yucatan peninsula rather than the americanised north) in central america before heading to the states. that trip alone will take a year if you do it properly.

Participantthe big dadies always respawn…. basically don’t fuck with them unless you need to grab a little sister from them. they are buggers to kill.
I find insect swarm followed by electric buck to be helpful….. though electic gel in one mammoth stream is an expensive but safe way to kill em.
why on earth these guys in diving suits get damaged by buzzing insects is beyond me however 😀

which is a high rating for me.You read ALL the ladybird books then? Bloody hell! 😯
Just tell me one thing… is it better or worse than the blind watchmaker re evolution? I thought that was the definitive guide to all things darwinian.

Just finished last night (on hard difficulty)
Very good story – few unexpected twists and turns… better than some books I’ve read lately. I didnt really like the way the story unfolded through the dictaphone diaries though… I can see why they used that particular plot device… but surely theres a more elegant solution to explaining back story to players?
Need to get me COD 4 now 🙂
lol – the old find the pda / audio diary plot device.. a classic from deus ex to doom 3
what else can they use? i agree that it is getting cliched but there are only so many alternatives and i think it beat endless cut scenes with dodgy acting.
Your totally right.
One thing about Doom 3 though.. at least when you accessed computers at higher security levels you learned more secret stuff and it had some tenuous believability to how things progressed. In bioshock it is completely random why people leave these bloody tapes lying around in bars/ bedrooms/ labs etc… but they all spookily follow on from each other. I can only suspend my disbelief so far.
Having said that. The voice acting was very good in Bioshock… makes a change.
