T’is a shame as i found him quite entertaining in a Antipodean sort of way, i’m surprised that a stingray managed to do what so many crocs and snakes failed to manage……..

the guy was as mad as a hatter but a true entertainer and obviously knew and loved his stuff

For the sake of his family I just hope it was simply a tragic accident rather than a stingray-baiting stunt that went wrong.
Some friends of mine saw him in Oz earlier this year, and said he was was a great bloke and seemed very genuine – if a trifle mad.
I guess he was a time bomb just waiting to go off. I would be more inclined to believe he provoked the stingray into being defensive as that tended to be his forte.
RIPcant believe it, but he has been close on so many occasions!

Poor bastard. I bet he poked it in the bollocks first though, as is his style. I feel more sorry for his children. Never again will they be dangled in front of a crocodile 🙁
Saw this thing morning
Bound to happen. The bloke was a good laugh and entertaining but I mean, let’s be honest here – you basically spend your life tracking down the most dangerous wildlife on the planet and then jumping up and down on top of it while whooping like a mentallist about it being “a right beauty” and sooner or later something is going to go horrendously tits up in a dreadful, major way.
His finest moment was when he was dangling his kid in front of that crocodile – I’m sure we all laughed at that kids terrified face as he looked down and saw those rows of razor sharp teeth.
