Watched this this weekend. Good film if you like interconnecting storyline type things.
By the director of 21 grams and amores perros
A good film maker and well worth the watch
and also contains nudity for those that require that kind of thing 😉

It was a good story with the way the 3 different plot-lines linked up and the contrast between the US view of the world and what really happened but it was kind of depressing too.
Also the Japanese link to the storyline was somewhat tenuous and makes me suspect that it was written in purely because Japan is the 2nd biggest film market after America. At least they used Japanese actors this time.
The two Moroccan kids were brilliant though.

Not a film for everybody I suspect but it had some good points and was certainly well made.

Liked the film but have to agree, the japanese storyline could well have been left out really.

thought it was utter poop….sorry. The Brad Pitt storyline was barely enough to hold my attention and like everyone said the Japanese one could have been missed out completely with Cate Blanchett perhaps stepping in to restore the wool count.

Luckily during this film my time was not totally wasted, I managed to spot all the defects in the curtains (the ones covering my windows aswell as the the ones covering the japanese birds pink bits), the minor imperfections on the walls and I also noticed a crack (in the ceiling aswell as the one between the Japanese birds legs)

Well I’m of the Judgemental line of thought on this movie.

I watched it last night with the wife and (admittedly I did doze of a couple of times) recognised it was a good film. In the same way that you have to recognise that Jamie Oliver is an accomplished cook, but I’d still like to punch him.

    Basic story:

American tourist on a coach gets hit by a bullet and we see four different stories about the knock on effect of this, all of them miserable and depressing.

I hear what som of you are saying about the Japanese part, it could have been left out, although here was a great bit of opportunity to make the film a bit more light-hearted. How about Mr Yakamoto is having a dinner party and has had to invite his grumpy old boss who says he’ll only promote a family man. Unfortunately Mr Yakamoto is a recent widower, but desperately needs the raise so has to pay a prostitute to pretend to be his wife. But due to a mix up he hires a transvestite who’s off his head on crack, and unbeknownst to him his boss is the tranny’s dad! It’d be like an episode of Terry and June for the 21st century! So after some depressing stuff about immigration, or goat herding you’d be like “Oh no! His ‘wife’ is peeing off the balcony, standing up! How’s he going to explain that away. Uh oh. Here comes his knickerless, mental daughter. I hope she doesn’t lick his bosses face…”

If you want a decent interconnecting storylines film, with wit, charm and good social commentary, check out Crash. It’s got a lot less montage scenes.

what a load of fucking shit – 30 mins into this i wanted to turn it off! lis made me watch the end just to see if the kids survived! wank wank wank

i think someone should audit how many potential suicides were pushed over the edge while watching this piece of crap??? the directors should be held accountable.

if you want miserable and depressing watch a soap opera and spend 50 million on something worth while.

    bored to tears!
