I have a cold… not much of a problem – had it since Thursday 14th, blocked up nose and ears, turned in to a gibbering idiot, slight “out there” feeling, dry slight sore throat – occasional coughing… general coldy type feeling, which has been doing the uni rounds. However -as I was in Uganda over easter, should I have a malaria test or am I being a Hypochondriac?! I dont feel sick, I dont have a headache, but I have lost my appetite… and thats not normal!

your being a hypocondriac – take some beechams for cold symptoms and sudafed or something similar for your nose to ease the congestion.

Its always something to think about in sick peeps who you re not sure about right enough – strangely people have developed full blown malaria a year after coming back from their hols… so its not a totally crazy idea. But we have to be serious here – its flu season and you are a big wuss.
IF you became SERIOUSLY unwell, especially if you didnt take malaria prophylaxis abroad as you should have done then a trip to the GP for some bloods would be ok… but doesent sound like any drama at present.
As an aside – during my work in India I personally saw 3 guys die from cerebral malaria…. all within a few hours of diagnosis. So hopefully you aint got that shit 😈
He’d be alredy dead if that was the case doc. Good thing that you got better at doctoring since then though, is it not? 😛

Lol – cerebral malaria is a complication of malaria of various types – so it is perfectly plausible that Turks could drop dead any minute.

I was just checking… im trying to write an essay I dont understand, and it would be much harder if I was dead!! (Actually that would make life alot easier!)
There was a story in the news last year of a girl from cardiff who went to the docs saying she felt ill, and was told it was just the flu, and she died from malaria a few days later…
So its always best to check!
