Looking through last nights logs (as I was waiting for eve server to come back up) I noticed our server died, very quickly, at 00:55 this monring.
Looking through the chat/kill logs, 2x players with aimbots came on and decimated the server in 3 mins.
They were: eIfF3rT0GIid3Ro and IlKINGAFRIKAlI
I reported them through battlelog but why the hell didn’t PB kick them?
January 7, 2012 at 12:02 pm #81854To0THBRU5HParticipantNice investigating.
I have read that in order for for cheaters not to play on your server it has to be on some sort of live feed thing. All of it went straight over my head but what the article suggested was that PunkBunster doesn’t work.
January 7, 2012 at 12:46 pm #81855XDCMcQueenParticipantcant find them in Battlelog..
January 7, 2012 at 1:37 pm #81856xdcmaniacParticipantThere is a new hack out I think. Seen a surge of complaints on the battle log forums, and Dice have acknowledged the problem.
Unless its really obvious, It’s such a hard thing to moderate/admin. Last night we had a guy on who was phenomenally good (slayback2102), who we were suspicious of, but rightly so in hindsight gave the benefit of doubt. But having looked at his Battlelog profile, his accuracy up till then was 10.7% (about the same as mine), yet was racking up huge kills.. Funny thing was he obviously got bored and left the server and was immediately replaced by MAX, who we all know hacks like fuck…. out of the frying pan into the fire. 😀

and
http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/user/IlKlNGAFRIKAlI/
were the people in questoin, they got 10 head shots in a row with pitols whilst the whole sever went wild calling cheats in chat, then all quiet. I wasn’t there to physically see it, but it is very clear when you look at the logs, 6 kills in 1 second with .44 mag

I was mearly referencing the less obvious situations where your in a position of deciding wether a player is good or cheating(which Punkbuster should be doing for us). It’s this really defencive type of reaction that puts me off admining, and we always feel the need to overly justify a decision to kick a suspected cheater (to the greater masses of XDC). If I feel someone is cheating I’d rather just leave the server than get into a debate about it.

What I said wasn’t in direct response to your post really. It’s a sticky wicket reporting people who you didn’t even see playing based on logs but in my opinion, reporting was the right thing to do.
As you say, it is very hard to kick someone for cheating if they are being somewhat restrained with the aimbot or whatever, wall hacks are even harder to identify. It’s something that’s difficult to kick for and something I’ve not kicked someone for yet.
I for one would have no complaints if someone kicked someone who was suspected of cheating, their judgement is all I need so don’t think I was trying to have a go, I’m not keen on the judging of the admin decisions either.
January 7, 2012 at 2:46 pm #81861AlzirKeymasterRe the OP, PB will always be slightly behind the curve on the latest hacks since they have to react to their creation. PB also needs to be regularly updated via the admin control panel (something I’ve done today).
January 7, 2012 at 4:11 pm #81862BlackadderParticipantPb is more than “slightly” behind the curve Alzir, they are notorious at not responding quickly to reported hacks or hackers, which is why third-party groups (such as Punksbusted or PBBans) have been created to ban cheaters by word of mouth rather than waiting for PB to get around to dealing with the hack.
This is one of the biggest problems with DICE’s frostbite powered games – no spectator mode or (like CoD Black Ops) no theatre mode that you can use to see exactly what was going on.
Still, it could be worse. VAC’s policy of playing the waiting game is understandable from their point of view but a real killer for players unfortunate enough to meet someone using the hack.
January 7, 2012 at 6:18 pm #81863XDCOldPhartParticipantIn the past if I felt someone was botting I would tell them then kick if no response. They can always jump on the forum and query. Usually guilty players will not jump on the forum to question a ban. Those guys that do can get benefit of the doubt and be unbanned. Done this since RogueSpear days
January 7, 2012 at 6:33 pm #81864XDCSprogParticipantsounds like a cunning plan pharty !!

nooooooo 😆
January 8, 2012 at 4:26 pm #81867AlzirKeymasterYou played RS pharty?
Oh and it looks like the server died a death this afternoon as none of us were on to admin while another hacker was there. Unfortunately nobody in chat typed out his full name for the ban to be retrospective. It might be “arach1s” but I’ve not had a chance to check battlelog.
