Actually Turks, look at the crime rate in London before and after police were stopped from searching individuals based on racial profiling. In fact back in the 70’s metropolitan police would search people with Irish accents because they might be IRA. You didn’t need to be Irish to support or serve the IRA (they had plenty of supporters state’s side and in the UK) but it made sense to start with them.

Just after september 11th a young muslim was taken off a plane for terroris reasons… I can’t remember how old he was, but I believe it was under 5… and then the extremely fundermentalist muslim Yusuf Islam was searched for the same reason… or for singing “father and son” to loud…

In 1955 Groucho Marx said “Honey, did you remember to pack the cocaine?” at airport customs. Customs officials strip searched his whole family, since they were unfortunately guilty by association. There’s nothing in the terrorist’s/drug trafficer’s handbook that says you can make kids carry bombs or crack.

I think it is a very delicate subject, and only/predominatly searching people of a certain appearence has been proven in the past to be highly unporoductive, and alternative methods have to be thought up. Besides who said “80-year-oldwomen, people in wheelchairs, little kids, airline pilots with proper identification,Secret Service agents who are members of the U.S.President’s security detail, 85-year old World WarII veterans with metal hips, and Boy Scout groups” cant be Muslims? Errr I rest my case!!

Being stopped and searched isn’t fun. It can be humiliating and embarrassing and police can abuse their powers when doing so. However, don’t be swayed by people’s victim mentality, especially when so many of these stop and search ‘victims’ supported the tube bombings in this country. If they disagree with the terrorists so much, then why aren’t they making their voices heard in protests about it? They were happy to protest about dodgy cartoons, but when it comes to mass murdering suicide bombers it all goes a bit quiet.

They need to be getting the public on their side, not alienating us.

It seems to be Muslims (looking at the most recent events and that moron with the hook spewing out illiterit rhetoric) who are generally blowing people up at the moment so why not search them? When football hooliganism is prevelent (all the time but it dosn’t sell newspapers at the moment so we don’t hear about it as much) search the big bald twat trailing his knuckles on the floor chanting rascist slogans. It just seems common sense rather than racial or any other prejudice.

If some 6ft tall slim white person had run riot and shot loads of people could I refuse to be searched on the grounds of prejudice? Or would I accept the fact that I’m a similar profile to the nutter they’re looking for and therefore fair game to be searched?

It can only be prejudice if the law is used in a prejudice way and for that you just have to trust the police…..which is where it all falls a part a bit…but they are all we have…unless you wish to rely on the American wrold wide policing policy!!

Back when I was a lad my mate was walking home one day when this police van pulled up and this rozzer set this big fuck off alsation on him. Halfway through his ordeal it turns out that the criminal they were after was elsewhere and my mate just looked like him. So the pow-lice (fuck the pow-lice and all that) jumped back in their van and left my mate laid on the floor a bit chewed up and needing some new underwear.

Now obviously, you can read into this all you like about the pitfalls of mistaken identity and profiling and all that bollocks but the important thing is that it really was piss funny (not for my mate of course, but the rest of us thought it was hilarious).

I was a little drunk when I wrote it, so probably could have been clearer I was just putting it in simple simple terms… One of my mates recently came out with “The majority of non-whites drain the state”… I didnt speak to him for a week!
