Server Donations

Ok, so that people can setup standing orders or transfer funds online, I’ve setup a bank account for XDC donations. Please use the details below and reference any transfer with your name, or alternatively use “XDC Server donation” as the reference if you wish to remain anonymous on any future statement that I may be asked to provide to the group (if you need confirmation I’ve received your donation, pm me).

The current 6 month lease cost was £122.40.

10 people have now come forward and offered to help towards this, which would mean approx £2 per person per month, or a one off £12.24 donation each would cover the cost of this over 6 months. Whether you’d like to pay in a lump sum, or monthly, I don’t care. Consider though that our costs will go up if we increase the size of the server, and not everyone can contribute equally, so please donate what you can.

Also bear in mind that we need to cover this initial cost before we can start saving for the next renewal, which will also be more expensive. I would also like to put some of this back into my own account at some point over the next 6 months, but how much will depend on any shortfall we may have, and of course what the total running costs turn out to be following any addons. I’m preparred to make up any shortfall over this 6 month period though.

In the event that I receive more than what’s required, i.e current cost plus the cost of renewal (should we choose to renew after the initial 6 months), I’ll start a discussion regarding what we can do with the extra funds. The largest donators however will have the option of a refund, and their vote will carry more weight in any decision. Potentially we could run another server for example.

Anyway, just as a final point, the bank account being used for this has been setup soley for XDC accounts, so in the interest of transparency I can produce a statement on request (minus anyone’s personal bank details that may show up on it from a standing order). In advance of any renewal date, I’ll produce a list of contributions received and an update on where we stand, so we can then make a decision on how to proceed.

Does this sound ok to everyone? Does anyone have any concerns or objections/suggestions?
