Had a look around and found what everyone says should work. Changed the shortcut to:
“C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsBattlefield 2142BF2142.exe” +menu 1 +widescreen 1+szx 1680 +szy 1050
splash screen, black then ctd…
changed the video.con files … same problem. Cant find any info. I know its a ball ache but if you have that samsung syncmaster 225bw that I have perhaps you could walk me through what you did..or anyone else for that matter 😉April 10, 2007 at 9:43 pm #50331nOmParticipantApril 10, 2007 at 9:49 pm #50332nOmParticipanthad a quick look for ya…

can you not just add +szx 1680 +szy 1050 to your desktop shortcut ?
April 11, 2007 at 2:57 am #50333XDCsPUNKerParticipantthat didnt work..hence the post 😉 but cheers for looking
April 11, 2007 at 4:14 am #50334XDCsPUNKerParticipantNo probs I fixed it now.
Had to delete the video.con file as apparently it then resets but then you lose all your other config settings. luckilly I had a copy 😉April 11, 2007 at 5:47 am #50335XDCMADMAXParticipantThats it! Nice one spunker, although I did have to continually delete this same file everytime I restarted the PC, although since putting vista on, all seems ok.

although why a company as big as EgAy dont support widescreen monitors when they have been around for years is beyond me .grrrrrrrrr
Oh and its a workaround so its stretched to fit and looks that way. Ah well will just have to get used to it 😕April 11, 2007 at 3:37 pm #50337nOmParticipantsecond of my links spunker 😉

Oh and its a workaround so its stretched to fit and looks that way. Ah well will just have to get used to it 😕Pretty sure I read somewhere the reason they don’t support true widescreen gaming is that punkbuster won’t accept it due to the fact that with a true widescreen image you would see more of the battlefield than those with normal monitors and in effect you would be cheating
Daft eh ?April 12, 2007 at 3:09 pm #50341XDCsPUNKerParticipantbloody stupids i calls it 😕
April 13, 2007 at 7:11 am #50342AnonymousParticipantthats bs though because a larger 16:9 could also see more above and below on top of the extras to the sides… WS = waste of time

Daft eh ?Heh. Maybe EA should limit all players to only play at dial up speeds? Afterall, somebody with ultra fast broadband will have an advantage over somebody with a 28.8 😉
April 14, 2007 at 9:59 am #50344XDC wild egg tamerParticipanti still dont understand how BF2 had 1280×1024 res setting in the gfx options but BF2142 hasn’t!!
I’ve used the
“E:Program FilesElectronic ArtsBattlefield 2142BF2142.exe” +menu 1 +fullscreen 1 +szx 1280 +szy 1024 +eaAccountName xxxxxxx +eaAccountPassword xxxxxxx +soldierName wildeggtamer +szx 1280 +szy 1024
workaround but am never sure if its actually working or not.
