Mine is a little less action packed..
When i was 18 and part way thru 1st semester at uni.. I was sick one day after eating dinner.. the sick was all black (like dried blood) and totally stained the carpet. Parents took me to the emergency GP (luckily next door to the hospital). my memory of the events is a little hazy, but they decided to put me in an ambulance and take me to the hospital, literally 30seconds in a vehicle, so that i could go in as an emergency rather than a walkin patient.
So then I lay on the bed in A&E for what seemed like ages, went for an xray or some kind of scan and passed out and welll.. there was lots of unpleasentness… then went up to a ward and i guess they wanted to keep an eye on me. I think it was 11 or 12 at night by this time because the ward was all dark.
Anyway the life and death bit came when I started feeling sick and managed to projectile vomit a load of blood onto the nurse at the end of the bed. You see.. my stomach was filling with blood from a perforated duodenal ulscer.. apparently the ulscer was on a part of the duodenum where a mjor artery goes past it and when it perforated it basically made a hole from the artery to my stomach.. causing it, and my bowels, to fill with blood.
So they fixed me up with drips for blood and eventually rushed me to surgery (once theyd found a doc). I think i needed 8+ pints, which i seem to remember is all of it..
so thats my little story.. now pleeeease play 2142 with me 🙁
oops 😳 only just seen this post.. but im still playing.. and yeah.. it does feel lonley at times 🙂
I mainly play at around 10pm ish..
Have asked for COD4 for xmas.. untill then im playing Crysis, 2142 and TF2.
yeah i loved it..
trouble is i dont think the “nightmarish surveillance society” is that far off… is it?

ok.. maybe as mugworth says it looks at yer hardware and decides if youre worthy or not.. coz the monitor is able to handle 1680×1050 like yours.. but the graphics card may not be able to.. (7900GT).. soon to be an 8800GT

I think the GTS is going to come out in 512Mb and 1Gb variants and is going to retail for around £250 and up. The GT is in the £150 – £200 price range. I’ve gone for an EVGA superclocked version which is slightly more expensive but it means you dont have to faff around overclocking yourself.
Overclockers have been promising the GTs for a couple of weeks now – keep pushing back the ETA. Not their fault, Nvidia just underestimated demand. I guess its the timing with the release of these new games like Crysis which have raised the bar for graphics performance.
SNAP!! i too have gone for the superclocked evga (currently around £205).. comes with crysis too!! so its not really much more than a basic ‘reference’ version.. o/c’s will apparently have then in on friday.. (we shall see…)

cheers wipers.. yeah what ive read so far is that the GT is a bit better than the *current* GTS, so steering clear for now.The chap I sit next to here has orderd a GT form overclockers (the OCUk brand) and they say itll be in this week.
Presumably the new gen GTS will be more spensive than the current generation? if so itll be outta my price range anyway.
The other option as magiker pointed out is the ATI 3870 (£164 on oc’s)

Im not really a fan of ATI, no good reason for that tho. I have an ATI card in the media centre (2400Pro) which seems ok.
So ill probably order the 8800GT especially if its good enough to get the Wipers seal of approval 😉

but then you fcuked all that up by mentioning the ati barstuards.. now im gonna have to look at those too 🙂 😉fwiw.. i got tf2 yesterday.. played a few rounds.. didnt have a fookin clue what was going on.. i skipped the “videos” which im told are fairly important.. so ill have a watch of them tonight.
anyway.. hope to be killin’ some of you on there tonite.. or mebbe 2142..
there is an installer for it in one of the subdirectories in the game directory..
it dosent get installed by default.yep got it on sat afternoon.
have u played it yet (anyone)?looks pretty good. played OK on my system. not on very high settings tho.
and (probably due to my gfx card o/c) i had some wierd artifacts. all the enemy were wearing flourescent green camo!! LOL!!
set it back to normal and all was ok.ai seemed pretty good.. and i had a go on the map editor.. not very successfully tho. there’s a lot going on in there 🙂

are you talkign aboot TF2? is it REALLY that good? i think its only $30? isnt it? so pretty cheap.
or do i have to get some orange box thingamy thatll cost me big time?yeah .. ive had an LG ide jobbie in a cheapo usb case for a couple of years.. has been fabo.. never had any issues..

errrr… i think its single player.. but yeah i had heard the editor would be in it too.. thatll be fun :-).
