Dont try and get pedantic on my ass you twat… I didnt invent the nomenclature for these things. The guy who showed me his guns called the 270 a 270 and the point 22 a point 22. I believe this is actually quite prevalent – though I may be wrong on that score. Why the ‘point 22’ is given its decimal status when other calibres arent is a mystery to me ๐

Nope, bullet is actually rather light, just has a large charge behind it. The .270 Winchester is essentially a necked-down .30-06, so same charge but smaller bullet. This means a fast, flat trajectory, but laws of physics means it loses impetus rapidly after a certain distance, and lacks penetration at range. The bullet can be easily deflected by bone because of its weight and speed too, so not good for anything larger than deer, although I have shot Wildebeest and Kudu with a .270, its a bit light for them.

Damn, I was going to say it looks like a .270 before you posted that. I have had my .270 since I was 14. Very accurate cartridge, fast and flat shooting, however, a bit too light for some contexts. You should be able to hit that plate at 400 meters with ease with a .270 and a scope.
