March 12, 2007 at 5:10 pm #4840811thSignalParticipantdunno but anybody who wants a ATI is obviously to stupid to get a job that pays the amount you will need….. ๐ฏ ๐ ๐
March 12, 2007 at 5:13 pm #48409XDCMADMAXParticipantIf one of your New Year’s resolutions involved spending a massive chunk of change to kick out as many frames per second as technologically possible, you may want to put the brakes on that impending NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX purchase. Lvl505 got their palms on a pre-release ATI R600 graphics card and put it up against the best NVIDIA currently has to offer, and the results thus far show ATI’s device as “the clear winner.”
Apparently, the R600 was exceedingly impressive, as reviewers actually suggested that you “return your NVIDIA” card as soon as humanly possible

Fixed
Although I’ve never owned an ATI card so the validity of the above quote maybe false ๐
March 12, 2007 at 5:44 pm #48411XDCsPUNKerParticipantyes yes but I could also point out that the Geforce 9900gtx will piss all over the r600 twice as that card also isnt available yet ๐
Lets face it ATI are still playing catch up at the moment and undoubtably when the new card is released they will probably have a very short marginal lead on nvidia before they release there next model.
I used to be an ATI or nothing bod but having recent experience with nvidia Im starting to be won over. Who knows…give it a year or two and see how it pans out ๐March 12, 2007 at 5:48 pm #48412XDCOldPhartParticipantAnd ATI will have a Vista driver? Just like Nvidia?
Spunker is right, one upmanship

March 12, 2007 at 6:44 pm #48414AnonymousParticipant#1 Forget about Crossfire. It’s hard enough as it is to find a Mastercard… it’s as nice as Nvidia’s SLi but it’s much harder to track down compatible cards to make it work whereas Nvidia are much easier and much more forgiving to mix and match.
#2 Forget about multiple cores. Nice yes, but most games don’t support them; you will get better gaming performance for the majority of games on a damned good single core for the price, maybe even cheaper.
#3 Forget about Vista. On it’s own it is nice enough and it works, but not much else works for it. By the time Vista will be of any use to you, you will be due for a new PC again anyway… also it’s not really worth going for anything less than Ultimate and if you want to make use of all 4gb of that RAM + your VRAM you’re going to need a x64-bit version.
March 12, 2007 at 6:55 pm #48415nOmParticipantcouple of things…
you will need a decent psu… one of the best is the corsair http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-004-CS&groupid=701&catid=123&subcat=
Raptors are not worth their money nowadays…these are nearly as fast and so much cheaper Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 .
