July 2, 2012 at 10:03 am #82836AlzirKeymasterAwesome Pharty, BF3 tonight then?
July 2, 2012 at 12:12 pm #82837XDCOldPhartParticipantNope. Kit arrives at work tomorrow. Then build. When wife & sprog leave for Italy Thurs 12 I take machine home and play
July 2, 2012 at 6:29 pm #82838XDCMADMAXParticipantdoesnt matter what speed rig you have, somethings you cant teach mate
July 2, 2012 at 7:23 pm #82839XDC wild egg tamerParticipantlooks the dogs dangles mate…….got an old pc you wanna sell that can play BF3? 😉
July 2, 2012 at 7:56 pm #82840XDCOldPhartParticipantMaxine, remember, I taught you!
WET, first build since 2007, only got a laptop at the mo. Insane got my last one, first time I ever sold a pc and the last, rather give them away. Felt bad taking Insane’s dosh, that said, it was a fooking good bit of kit!
July 2, 2012 at 8:01 pm #82841XDC wild egg tamerParticipantwish you had felt so altruistic when i bought the previous one off you 😉
I’m tempted to buy a pc, got the mac mini which is great but i do miss the laugh i had with gaming. I’ve had a peek at pcspecialist and they have some nice pc’s but know i could build similar spec for not too much in the way of funds. If i can put a machine together that can play BF3 nicely but not cost too much then i may give it serious thought……only problem now is i’m so out of touch with gfx cards etc i have no idea what is considered half decent!
July 2, 2012 at 8:58 pm #82842OccaParticipantNice rig there Old. See you on the field again. 🙂

DOH Steff, forgot but tht was a giveaway price anyway.
Tell me your budget and I willl see what the OC forums come up with
July 3, 2012 at 7:35 am #82845XDC wild egg tamerParticipantHehe, it was a good pc which I still have though don’t use.
I could probably only put about £400 into a new pc so can’t see it buying anything decent 🙁 I could possibly reuse the case I got off you, my 19″ monitor, maybe even the raptor hdds though don’t think the PSU would have enough power.
Think my best bet is wait a while longer and see what pennies I can save, going by the last year or so……….not much lmao 🙂
July 3, 2012 at 7:45 am #82846XDCOldPhartParticipantPretty sure you could re-use the case. Was it one of the Lian Li jobbies?

I put a rig together for my son’s xmas that plays BF3 a nearly max settings. Was aroudn £310 all-in. not the fastest or prettiest PC in the world, but it was built to play games an it does it well. Let me know if you need any advice.
edit.
Oh, if you re-use parts, you can splash out in other areas. For £400, you could build a respectable gaming PC. If you’re interested, tell me what you can re-use and I’ll put together a shopping list we can all argue over for a few days.
July 3, 2012 at 10:37 am #82848XDC wild egg tamerParticipantThe case is a coolermaster but can’t remember the model……..centurion I think.
Ok, I have a case, monitor, audigy 2 soundcard, 2x36gb raptors, 1 500gb hdd, optical drive so would need mobo, ram,CPU,PSU,gfx and OS.
July 3, 2012 at 11:00 am #82849bmstalkerParticipantGraphics Card:

£70Atlhough I’m sure someone here could sort you out with an OS for free. I don’t have a technet account, but there are a few IT professionals here who must have one.
However, all in, I count that at £375
With a free OS, £305.
Hell at that price, you could drop an extra £50 on the card and get a GTX 660 or GTX 570 and maybe a better mobo/cpu combo.
The above noted will play BF3 on full settings though.
